CANARY Heavy Duty Box Cutter Retractable Blade, Safety Corrugated Cardboard Cutter Knife, Made in JAPAN, Green (DC-25)

I have three Canary box cutters. All of them are easy to use, but this my first of the heavy duty kind. I appreciate the design of this one. My favorite feature is the circular locking and unlocking wheel. I can use one hand to loosen, flick the cutting blade out, and tighten it back down. It could be the size of my hands (large palms, medium length fingers for a man), but I find this to be a very easy to use device (sparks some joy?). The larger handle as compared to the other cutter makes this excellent for longer cardboard cutting sessions (i.e., breaking down all those Amazon boxes!). I also find this very useful for cutting open plastic bags full of dirt/soil for my garden. Overall, this is a go-to tool for me today. I hazard to say it is one of my favorite tools.

I work in a public library and I bought this knife because I was considering buying several of the yellow ones for the library where we do cardboard engineering programs. We have cardboard scissors, but I find them hard to maneuver if you are doing anything beyond straight lines. I LOVE this knife. You can make fairly intricate cuts easily. It's way better for curves than the scissors. Something else I do at the library is construct displays or puppet show props and scenery. This often involves either foam core or the pink foam insulation that comes in 1 and 2 inch thicknesses. This knife is great for cutting those, too. I will be ordering the less expensive Canary knives for the library, but I like this retractable one for personal use because retracting keeps the blade protected.

I like this concept for cutting cardboard. I tried it out on single thickness cardboard and it worked just fine. I am planning on bringing it to work later this week to try it out on thick corrugate to see how it fairs. Not sure why it was designed for different projected lengths.

It is a nifty little product that does what it was advertised to do. However, the handle design does not really encourage the blades' two-sided use. It is awkward to hold it on the opposite side to cut cardboard. The blade holding design also doesn't allow users to simply switch blade sides to even out blade wear. A more comfortable handle for tougher cuts would also be another suggestion I would add if the company plans on improving upon this product. It's a decent tool. Some general refining would make it stand apart from it's competitors.

I just moved and ordered many items (large and small) and had to cut up all the boxes. I was using a utility knife then started researching efficient ways to cut cardboard and came across this gem. I bought into the hype and boy did it deliver. cutting boxes was super easy. I would say this cut boxes more than two times quicker than a utility knife. I went with this one as it had a handle you could put the blade back into as opposed to the yellow one. I recommend this if you're moving and need to tear up some boxes.

Have a huge old rug (8x11) --- and I decided it's easier to cut it up to get it out of the room (lots of furniture on top) ---- noticed the curved flooring blade needed me to use a sawing motion. Decided to use this cardboard --- since you use a sawing motion with it. Perfect ---- it cuts easily through this old carpet. And so much safer than the flooring blade. Good with cardboard, too.

It cuts boxes with ease and you don't have to concerned with cutting yourself accidentally. Even let my 9 year old grandson use it for his fort building.

Super sharp. My student cut her hand and needed 6 stitches. Fair warning!
