Epson B12B813391 Automatic Document Feeder for Epson Perfection 4490/V500 Scanners

I can't believe I went as long as I did without a document feeder on my scanner. When I bought this new scanner I almost balked at the cost of the document feeder.The scanner is simply outstanding, and had I been reviewing it alone I'd have to give it five stars. If I were reviewing the document feeder strictly based on time and labor savings, five stars again. However, the document feeder has the regularly recurring habit of feeding sheets at a slight but increasing angle until, eventually, it jams. Yes, you can work around it, but it's a colossal pain when it happens.If you want perfectly aligned, trouble-free scans, spend even more money and get a scanner with built-in document feeder. If you can life with the occasional crooked page and occasional jam, this combination is tough to beat.One star off for the light-weight feeder workmanship; otherwise, I love this scanner and document feeder.

Epson scanner automatic document feeder ( B12B813391 ) I had problems in the beginning. Some I charge to Epson, but I charge the others to me.At the present, I have worked out most problems and it is very useful and I scanned over 1,000 4x6 photos over the week end. I dothink I would bye the scanner and ADF as one unit next time. But overall, I love the job it is doing for me as I have over 5,0004x6 photos to goI would add that Amazon has been very helpful with my problems, directing me to the proper help.Wendell

While no manufacturer advertises photo scanning as a feature, this ADF will handle the thicker stock of printed photographs. The EPSON scan util will auto batch a stack of 30 prints. You can't effectively scan at more than 400 dpi because the scan will pause because it can't offload the data quickly enough and you'll get a thin line where the feeder starts and stops. 20seconds per scan approx at 3x5.

I've had this since March 2012, (3 years as of this review) and it's performed well. You do need to clean it every once in a while but that's pretty easy to do. It has jammed a few times but that's not been a real problem. Not meant for photos hence the name "Document Feeder".

Seller ships direct from Epson, thus when I called seller regarding the fact that there were no installation instructions, they told me to contact Epson and offered no other assistance. Otherwise after about an hour I found some instructions on the internet.........The unit itself is good.

This product is fine, though it jams pretty easily. I was hoping for something that could work without supervision, but this takes some watching if you're scanning anything other than regular paper.

I bought this to scan in the bazillion photos I have and I may as well have bought a cheap photo scanner. The reason I didnt was so I could do a bunch at once and leave it rather than feed them individually. Well I am pretty much having to feed them individually b/c they keep jamming. Just got it, sending it back!!

I am downloading thousands of photos to my computer to make disks for my kids. This feeder made life easier for me.
