Very pleasant knife to look at and handle, well finished and some very positive 'clicks' when the blade and spike lock into their working positions. I played around with it for a while, and before long noticed the spike was getting hard to to open and lock into place. A few minutes more and the joint collapsed, making the spike useless and the blade difficult to open. Never been used and it was a nice looking little pile of scrap.Amazon sent a replacement straight away, one with a somewhat lighter operation.As the knife was to be a working knife for my my son, we decided that a daily oiling of the sliding surfaces of the joint was needed and a method of opening that reduced the load on the the sliding surfaces was needed. He just presses the relevant locking mechanism release button when opening the knife.The satisfying click is gone when things have moved into place, but so far the knife has performed well.The spike has proved to be particularly useful, and several workmates have borrowed the knife just to use the spike - and they have promised to buy their own knife.

Started off well, cuts quite cleanly, however has no rust resistance, just having it on my person and not needing to use it in any emergency situations and it started rusting after a month, by 6 months the rust was so bad that the lock mechanism for the marlins spike broke off. Don’t believe the ‘lifetime warranty’

Very good knife. The locking mechanism took a little experimenting to work out - it's not obvious how to unlock the spike. Locking of both spike and blade very positive. Cut 10 mm braid-on-braid rope cleanly.

Started off well. Lovely knife. Didnt take long for the knife to snap though
