Great idea
I bought this to make more use of the two batteries I have with my grass trimmer and replaced the sorry pos B&D non lithium rechargeable. This is far better with the separate battery packs.. Works well enough for most clean up jobs, such as sawdust around the HF 10 " drill press in my work room. I still have yet to have to switch batteries and can't see why I would need to. Now if only it had a LED light on and or in it.. edit: still works well enough that I'm going to buy one as a gift and use the extra small charger and battery from another purchase. The filter does get clogged and I think a stiff brush helps with that.. OUTSIDE. I don't recall seeing if they can be washed. I wouldn't use it for drywall dust or similar though.

Don't pass this one up - take a look.
Bought this to replace a 12 yrs old ShopVac hand vacuum that is struggling to run for more than a few minutes on a charge. I already have a 20V drill using the same battery, so it made sense to buy this and use the common battery. The 20V Lithium is very powerful and lasts a good while. The vacuum is not very big so it is good to handle. The high pitched whine that everyone complains about is not as loud as I was expecting, but it is there. I can live with it no problem. The suction is good for the intended purpose; picking up small things, like crumbs or animal hair on hard floors. It is good for small particles on carpet too. It won't pick up animal hair off carpets, but what hand vacuum will without an agitator. There is a small brush accessory, as well as a nozzle, which plug into the end of the vacuum. At the end of the day, it's a hand vacuum. They all are about the same. However, the difference here is that the battery is a powerful lithium; it can be replaced when it gets worn out in a couple years (and it will); there is a high capacity version of the battery available for double the running time; the battery can be shared with other B&D tools; B&D is a trusted brand (for me at least).I would recommend it for its intended purpose of a quick clean up without getting out the full size, corded vacuum cleaner

It works
This is an okay hand vac, certainly worth getting if you've got the 20V system. To note, yes the old gray packs and the new black packs seem to be the same, as I'm using this vac fine on an old gray pack. The good:Lightweight, and easy to use. Slap a battery in, point at dirt, flip switch. It's as easy as can be.Washable, replaceable filter seems easy to install.Great sucking power. This is on par with the rest of the 20v line. For instance I cut out the side of a deadbolt hole in a piece of wood and slid this over the opening. Not a single bit of sawdust remained in the hole. It's really solid for a hand vac.No you can't charge it off the wall, but what you can do is slap in a 20v battery pack. That shouldn't surprise anyone. 20v battery and 20v charger sold separately, as with most tools in the line. The bad:Why oh why does the exhaust vent down? Don't use this hand vac for dust or dirt, although if you keep the mess directly in front of you and incline the handle so only the tip is down then you can definitely suck up cat little without too much worry. This vac is meant for cars and shops, where you need strong suction to pull things out of carpet or off of rough wood. It is not meant to chase dust bunnies around hard surfaces. That's limiting, but for what I need this for, that's okay. One star off for this.Nowhere to store the utility tips, so they're probably going to get lost.Overall:The exhaust problem is an issue, but overall this is a strong motor that makes good use of the 20v battery pack. I like it.

Works well and does a great job cleaning up small messes. I like the fact it's a washable filter and canister.
I have quite a few tools that use the 20V Max Lithium battery system that this uses so I have quite a few Black and Decker tools. I used this tonight in preparation for some friends coming over. This did an AMAZING job of cleaning up my foyer and hallway (much to the dismay of my puppies). I was able to get all of the particulate matter up and filled up the canister in just a few minutes. I don't have any experience with heavy or trapped stuff, like dog fur stuck to the carpet, but will update when I do some of that. I was very happy with this as it worked better than my original expecations.

A little underwhelmed by this vacuum, not bad but could have been so much better
Suction strength is better than I expected for a battery-powered vacuum, and a good way to keep my 20V max batteries utilized rather than just sitting with my other less frequently used tools. Since I have multiple B&D 20V batteries, there is great synergy with this vac added to my tool arsenal. I took off two stars (would have preferred just 1.5) because:1. the vacuum is a little too tall (6.4") to fit under cabinets or other furniture (6" clearance is standard for cabinets and other furnishings). A slightly lower profile (e,g, mount the battery behind rather than below, or lower the curved handle .25") would make this infinitely more useful. Even if it were 6" tall, the nozzle angle makes poor floor contact. This could be addressed with accessories, but,2. there is only a single accessory included, a wimpy brush, and none optionally available. This little vac would be 3 times more useful with a short hose and e.g. crevice tool, bristle brush etc, even if they had to be bought separately. C'mon B&D, you need to step up your game here. Just need to provide an adapter for the trapezoidal vacuum inlet, to a standard 1.5" round vacuum flex hose! Your other 20V cordless tools are all innovative and practical. This retro-1970's Dust Buster (albeit with LiON replaceable battery) won't cut it against the likes of a Dyson (which I didn't buy, precisely because I'm invested into your 20V system).

Best DustBuster ever!!
This is the BOMB !!! Best DustBuster I ever had it doesn't need to be kept plugged in so I can keep it anywhere we have the leaf blower and the hedge trimmers that use the same battery so there is always a battery charged and waiting However it works for a very long time without having to charge. Have used it almost daily for a few minutes at a time for about 2 weeks and still haven't had to charge/ switch batteries. Awesome power too even will pick a coin or 2. Don't buy any other one. This is the one you must have

Washable filter's nice. Picked it up through Amazon @ $62 & ...
Not sure why people think this is loud. It isn't. It's also not as ballsy as I expected but it'll do the job. Washable filter's nice. Picked it up through Amazon @ $62 & change. It's popped up & disappeared twice now that I've noticed at that price coming directly from Amazon. Had it on my wish list waiting for a cheaper option than the royal ripoff from all the other sellers. Would be great if Amazon would stock it & sell it at the same reasonable price that I got it for because the $130+ that these other places are asking for a hand vac with no battery/charger is just retarded. All it is is a single speed motor, a can & a filter. Not nearly as complicated as a variable speed jigsaw or a drill, yet these profiteers want twice as much? Pass or wait for a sensible price. Nothing wrong with the vac, but worth $100+ no battery/charger, it sure as hell ain't. :/

Powerful and Handy
Very powerful and handy, I can re-use batteries that I have with other tools and they seems to work for a while before dying. A bit noisy, but acceptable during the day (you don't want to use it at night when other people are sleeping for sure!). Come with two removable nozzles (the one to reach small places is a bit short, but it's better than nothing and the other one is for delicate surface ). No battery in package (which was written, no surprise here). Very happy with my purchase so far !

It works really really well! This is a no-brainer purchase if you already own batteries from the same system. It's just as powerful or more powerful than other B&D hand vacs at this price range.Only wish is if it hand an attachment to make it an upright vacuum.
