Charging port is on the back so you would have to take it down to charge.

Is this light bright enough to read by?

Yes, there's two levels of brightness, and assuming you'd have it near you, it throws off enough light to read by.

How long does light last on dimmest setting?

I've never left these lights on until they died, but I'd think that at low setting each would last probably 8-10 hours or so. I tend to use them in short bursts of time at close to full brightness, and they need to be recharged after about 3-4 hours of use at that level.

How hard do you have to push this light to make it turn on? If I threw a light bean bag at it, would that be enough to turn it on?

I can turn it on with a graze of my finger because there isn't a physical button.
