I had to cut and enlarge the hole vertically to accommodate the kneecap fully. It works great after that.

Day of receipt: Let me just say that I haven't used the product yet, and it may be OK, but I felt compelled to immediately write a review of the seller/supplier. This item arrived SMELLING SO OVERWHELMINGLY MOLDY/MUSTY that after trying it on (quickly) and feeling an irritation of my skin as well as my sinuses, I'm now washing it and HOPING that the horrific odor dissipates. The only reason I'm keeping it (truly, I'm horrified by the condition in which it arrived) is that it's the 5th different knee sleeve I've ordered online and I've already had to return the other 4 BECAUSE THE SIZING CHARTS PROVIDED WERE COMPLETELY INACCURATE (yes, I'm irritated -- I guess that will be the topic for reviewing other sellers). I hope I get to use this item. It's difficult to find basic neoprene open patella knee sleeves these days, and I need a couple. I'll add to this review if I ultimately have feedback about the functionality of the product itself, but definitely be forewarned about how and for how long this has been stored by the seller. Geez! A few days later: I've now been wearing the brace, so I'll add to the above. I can't completely get the odor out (still hoping), BUT, the brace itself is actually working out really well! It's comfortable and supportive, and the opening at the patella is larger than other braces I've tried, which is actually a plus (when I say larger, I don't mean too large; I mean large enough so that it's not uncomfortably pressing against my kneecap). Thus, I've changed my overall rating from a 1 to a 4. That not withstanding, the supplier and/or the way this item has been stored is truly very problematic. The odor upon receipt was just disgusting. Still, I'd recommend it. Go figure!

I have been using McDavid knee supports for years--maybe decades. This latest design is far inferior to their previous design: - Medium did not fit as snuggly (and if anything my legs are larger from consistent working out). - Within months these new supports started coming apart. I have McDavid supports from FOUR+ YEARS AGO that are in much better shape (used in the exact same way). See photo (the dark ones with the red stitching are the new ones). I will be searching for new supports to purchase.

This is for my inflamed patella. * Important: I measured my knee on the border of two sizes and, given other reviews, selected the smaller size. They are tight and a good fit.* I bought these to replace a set of worn down and much more expensive ones (~$30/each knee) I obtained through my physical rehab provider. These enable me to do crossfit 3-4 times per week, which means a lot of squatting, lunging, etc. that significantly aggravate my patella. These are relatively inexpensive and have improved my quality of life.

For me, finding things small enough to fit is the challenge. This small actually fits around what my wife calls my "Chicken legs." I also bought a Valeo and it doesn't fit--not even close. I wonder why a small this and a small that are no where the same size? It gives me good support without cutting the blood off--I can wear it all day and go up and down stairs many times without feeling my knee slip around. It's a great product.

I have a sprained patella ligament, low grade. I bought this for stability while it heals. Not sure if I’ll keep it. The upper part fits fine - from just below my knee to the top of the sleeve above my knee. But the lower elastic band is uncomfortably tight. I bought the small (my knee circumference 13”) and I don’t have chunky calves at all - they’re fairly slender. But that lower elastic band is way too tight. Too bad - otherwise I would have given it a 5 star. Other than the lower band almost cutting off my circulation, it’s very comfortable.

Had these only 8 weeks, one is falling apart. Fabric pulling away from neoprene and there's also a run in the fabric!
