OMT Tailgate Assist Damper Compatible with 04-14 F150& 06-08 Mark LT, Black

I've now had it on over a year and put it to work everyday sense then. It still works like the day I put it on. Price was great, definitely doesn't let the tailgate slam, but it also doesn't make it harder to close either. I would recommend or buy again for another truck. Installation was easy and took 10-15 mins. When the tailgate is closed you can't even tell it's there or when open it blends in without being in the way.

If you are on the fence about getting a tailgate lift assist kit, just do it. It is hands down one of the best, most practical upgrades you can make to your truck. Easy to install, good metal construction, doesn't seem flimsy, works as it should.

So far so good, been on my truck for 4 days. I bought this one to replace the name-brand one that broke after 4 months. This one is almost identical to the name brand one, for half the price. I figure if I get 4 months out this one, I'm ahead $17.00. Easy to install, no hang-ups like others noticed. So we'll see how long it lasts, and I'll update my review accordingly. 4 stars until I know the longevity.

Love these, first one broke, maybe from freezing temps, I don't know but I got another. Doesn't give you a shock of your life as it glides on down.

This thing works great wouldn’t think with its size it would be that durable but my 2018 Silverado tailgate comes down nice and slow. Easy to install with included parts.

I just installed it and it works great it was an easy way to fix how the tailgate drops out so hard!!!

Update 11/16/2023: The seller has reached out to me and issued a full refund. I am updating this review just to include this information. Due to the good customer service, I am changing my rating from 1 star to 4 stars. Keep in mind, they did not ask me to change my review, nor was it a condition of my refund to do so. All they did was reach out and ask if I wanted a refund or a new product, I opted for the refund since I had already purchased a new tailgate assist of a different brand for my truck. The original review remains unedited below. Obviously, I was pretty angry when I wrote it, but I'm happy everything worked out in the end. I bought one of these a few months ago for my 2004 GMC Sierra 1500. It worked alright for a while, until it didn't. Several weeks ago, it completely stopped working. I opened my tailgate and let it fall, as I had grown accustomed to doing, and the tailgate slammed down with zero resistance. After returning to this page and noticing some of the absolutely ridiculous claims this company is making, I decided to make a review on it. 1) Despite what they're telling you, it's not going to make it easier to close your tailgate, it only slows the tailgate down when you open it and helps prevent it from slamming (Until it breaks, that is). 2) Claiming it (and I quote) "extend(s) the service life of the entire back end of your vehicle" is such an insanely outrageous claim that it's almost humorous. I don't think I need to elaborate on that. 3) "Rest Easy: This will be the only tailgate shock your truck will ever need. Tested and durable" How much testing did it take to make a product that completely fails after a few months? 4) "Orion Motor Tech backs it with a lifetime warranty and after-sales service." Conveniently, there doesn't seem to be any contact information listed where I could take advantage of this "lifetime warranty" and get a replacement for my faulty product. And with a $20 price tag, they're clearly bluffing anyway. Surely if you backed your product and did that much testing to ensure your product was extremely durable, you'd provide contact information or some kind of instruction to talk to customer service, right? Because if you have a superior product, you know not many people will need it, but out of the few that would, it's all about customer feedback. But if you make claims like this and don't back it up, obviously it's because your product is trash. Overall, ignoring the fact that it didn't last very long at all, I actually liked this product a lot. Initially when I installed it, the support cable on the tailgate would get pushed out of the gap, to where it was sticking outside, as some others have mentioned. Turns out it was just because I tightened one of the bolts when it was supposed to be left loose, and loosening the bolt fixed the problem. As tempted as I am to buy another one of these for only $20, I don't see the point in waiting for it to break. If I have to cradle my tailgate every time I open it, anticipating that inevitable moment it stops working, then what's the point in using this product in the first place? Overall, I would not recommend this product. If you do buy it, buy it as a gift for someone you don't like, and in a few months they'll slam their tailgate when the product fails.

Did. Not install item,there are better ones in the market for same or less money.

Installed on 2017 Chev 3500. Fits perfect and works excellent. Easy to install. Nice slow release tailgate now. Definitely recommend.

Worked Excellent, Great product. Way better then those with the cheap Riv Nuts that never work. Install was all of 5 mins. 2 of those because I forgot the washer the first time.
