Is there a problem getting through security with the extender

There is no problem. If they should question it, show them the card that comes with it stating that you are the owner of the extender. I had no questions at all on my recent trip with it.

Has anyone used this on an Airtran flight and if so did it work?

I used it on AirTran and it it worked perfectly. Clicked right in. I also bought the one for SouthWest since I had 2 different carriers for my travels. They both worked like a charm!! I totally recommend either one.

Will this work on Singapore Airlines (Economy Class)?

It is a generic airline clip and lock system. Unless they have an unusual size clip, it should work. I do not fly Singapore Airlines, so I cannot say for sure.

Has anybody tried to you thier own seatbelt extender recently? I heard the FAA banned people from bringing thier own.

The airlines do not have to pay you if you are injured and they find that the extender was a personal one. That is because they are not continually inspected like the ones are that are kept on board (and used a lot in your seatbelt demos). So any that you buy are NOT FAA approved and you can have them taken from you.
