Owning a high-quality pair of binoculars has been a long-time goal, and the Athlon Midas G1 delivers exactly that. For the price, the clarity and overall performance are excellent—easily competing with more expensive options. While the G2 version offers minor refinements, the difference isn’t significant enough for most users to justify the higher cost. The G1 already provides sharp, bright, and crisp images. Build quality feels solid and slightly premium in hand. The included case and strap are decent and practical. The only downside is the weight—it can cause some hand fatigue after 5–10 minutes of continuous use while standing. That said, image quality remains consistently clear. Setup is simple, and once adjusted for your eyes, it’s very easy to use. Great value and a strong choice for beginners and enthusiasts alike.

I live at the beach, and I am constantly watching the ocean (and all that comes by). I had a pair of 8X42 Porro Prism Olympus binoculars for many years that I really loved. Alas, I dropped them, and the prisms got jolted enough to ruin the image. I was in despair because they are no longer available. After much soul searching, I realized that the only thing to do is to get a better-quality binocular. I have been thoroughly enjoying my choice, the Athlon Optics Midas 8X42 Binoculars. Since they are roof prism binoculars, they are lighter and more compact than my former pair. I can gaze at the ocean and the horizon for extended periods of time without fatigue. They also sport a wider field of view than my former binoculars. I have used them for stargazing as well. We have a lot of light pollution where I live but with a 42mm objective and a 5mm exit pupil these binoculars work great for someone my age (older). The Athlon Optics Midas Binoculars come with handy objective lens covers that pop off and dangle. The attachment rings are secure so I can keep the objectives protected when not in use and quickly pop off the covers when I am ready to use. They have, of course, eyepiece covers, a neck strap and a carry case. Pros: 1. Excellent field of view 2. Flat field 3. Lightweight 4. Pop on/off objective covers 5. I chose these binoculars because they were recommended by NY Times Wirecutter. I am on Maui watching humpback whales in the ocean between Lahaina and Lanai. The optics are superb. I can clearly see whales that are nearly invisible to my naked eyes. The binoculars are comfortable in my hands and the focus mechanism adjusts easily but stays where it is set. I can pass them around for others to see what I’m watching and then readjust them to me in a few seconds. I am very pleased with my purchase. They are also light and steady enough that they worked great when I took them on a small craft whale watching excursion.

The binoculars are exceptionally good, providing a very sharp image and being easy to use. However, one drawback with the design is the front caps. They are simply there without any way to ensure they won’t fall off. In fact, mine fell off within a week, which could be improved with a better design solution.

These are the best binoculars you can buy for the money. I own two pairs, one for each of my vehicles, and have given 3 pairs as gifts. The binoculars are really well made. The magnification is great for viewing all kinds of sports, fishing, hunting, bird watching, etc. Most important is that they are bright and sharp and easy to handle. The rubber texture on the outside is comfortable and warm and provides waterproofing. The twist out eye relief is just right. They have a smooth and easy to adjust center focus dial and individual focus ring for fine tuning. The weight is just right; not too heavy and not too light. Very impressive.

I've had a dozen or more binoculars. These Athlon Optics 8x42 Midas UHD binoculars are the best all around pair with the best clarity of any pair I have ever used. Keep up the good work. I recommend that you get yourself a pair.

Das Athlon Midas 8x42 habe ich wegen der ED Gläser gekauft. Ich besitze schon eine gutes Fernglas, das Steiner Observer 8x56. Das FG von Steiner war mir auf Touren zu unhandlich und schwer. Jetzt habe ich mit dem Athlon Midas 8x42 Ed ein kompaktes FG mit hervorragender optischer Leistung und stabilem Korpus für meine Touren gefunden.
