I have a set of pots and pans with metal handles that get far too hot to touch. I spent way too much on them, and before eating the loss and replacing them, I decided to try these inexpensive little covers instead. These things are gold- pure gold- and they do everything they claim. I can use them to hold a super hot pan handle while cooking on the stove, remove cookie sheets from a 450 degree oven, and lift non-microwavable bowls by the rim after I once again forget the non-microwavable part. No matter how hot the metal or semi-melted melamine, I never feel the heat. I have spilled everything from coconut oil to partially hardened peanut brittle on these holders and even if left until the next day, the mess always rinses right off. Tomato sauce, chocolate, and even Easter egg dye haven't managed to leave a stain. If you are trying to decide whether to take the plunge on these, I highly recommend that you do. Life is too short to be spent with burned fingers, especially when you can solve the problem for a mere $6.

I have this pan that has exposed screws holding the handles in place. The original handles were replaced by a previous owner at some point. They, the screws, get hot - very hot. These silicone handle grippers allow me to hold, pick up and otherwise handle the pan as needed, which is great. The reason I give 4 stars is not performance, but design. The product is made for thinner cast iron pan handles, so the curve clearance is not big enough to properly fit the larger handles of my pan, which measure 7/8" h. If they were any higher, the grippers would not work, so I got lucky. Wish they made a bigger gripper. That said, I can still grip them around with a little effort, and they render my pan totally usable. Quality product. Does what it says. Just be aware of curve clearance if you are buying for anything other than typical cast iron use.

So, I bought pots with detachable handle so they'd take less space in my van. Problem is, those pots say the handle shouldn't be left on while cooking and sometimes I need to shift them back to center on the burner or hold them when I stir. These make that easy. They're like little pot holders and serve their non-standard use application well.

Bought this set to use with a Dutch oven, as the handles get mighty hot. Liked them so well, I bought additional for my mom to use when she bakes. Often easier to use than a fabric potholder.

Nice idea but they don't clamp shut so are extremely loose and slip sideways or falls off the handles almost instantly - making it too easy to burn your fingers - the very thing they were made to protect. Would be ideal if the opening closed completely so they would stay on.

They do come in handy when you have a hot pot lid. I have too many “gadgets” .. I didn’t return them, I’ll find another use, but I would rather use a pot holder. Just IMHO.
