SanDisk 4TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD - Up to 2000MB/s Read Speeds - Black

I've got a 27 inch iMac, quad core i5 at 3.3GHz, 32GB of RAM, running Sequoia via OpenCore Legacy Patcher. By rights it should have gone in a skip by now. The internal Fusion Drive is so slow it's basically a shelf for things I never open. So I plugged in a 2TB Extreme Pro and made it the boot drive. Over a year later it's still my daily machine. It boots off USB perfectly. No fuss, no hangs, no weird permission problems, and the difference in feel is night and day. The Fusion Drive is now just dumb storage. Everything that matters lives on the SanDisk and the whole machine behaves like a much newer computer. Worth being clear about what it can and can't fix. The Mac still has limits that no drive solves. Some newer apps have started falling over, the Claude desktop app being one. That's the CPU and the unsupported OS, not this. But for everything else it's given a beautiful screen and a decent machine several more years of proper working life. I hammer it. Big files, constant read and write, running as the system disk which is about as hard as you can push an external drive. It hasn't skipped once. Five stars. Cheaper than a new computer and it did more than a new computer would have. If you've got an old Mac with a tired internal drive, this is the fix.

The SanDisk Extreme PRO Portable SSD 2TB is an excellent external drive for fast file transfers and reliable storage. The NVMe technology delivers very impressive speeds, and I was able to move large files and videos quickly without noticeable delays. The drive feels compact and well built, making it easy to carry in a bag or pocket. It’s especially useful for backing up large files or working with media projects where speed matters. The only downside is the price, which is higher than standard external drives. However, considering the performance and build quality, it feels worth it if you need fast portable storage. Overall, a powerful and dependable portable SSD for anyone needing quick data transfer and extra storage.

Does what it says on the tin! Its expensive but you get what you pay for. Fast reliable storage. Its perfect for people that need portability and was easy to connect. I wouldnt trust any other solid state drive genuinely.

Very robust and co.pact ssd.

Great USB-C drive, pretty decent speed over a 20gbps cable - I use it for large 4k video file temporary storage while I am working on the files (note that I manually transfer the files to the Mac SSD before starting work). Not experienced any excess heat or data loss - I was a bit worried as this model was supposed to have some issues with it, but it's been a good value for money purchase for me. It has the functionality listed and what I expected.

Maybe this product works well with Android devices, but it is definitely not suitable for iPhones. The videos do not play smoothly. They stutter, play too fast, freeze, and the audio is out of sync with the video. On top of that, the device gets very hot within the first minute of use. I had bought two of those,I had the same experience with both. A friend who has Android suggested me this product and he is happy with it.

easy to use , small and compact and quiet. file transfer is fast

This is the second hard drive and I’m really happy with them. They do exactly as explained, I use them to backup my business work. The only slight criticism is that the usb on one stopped working. I was worried the drive was corrupt but when I use an apple usb cable to connect to my Mac it works fine. I think this is down to the cable as it was the same on our PC desktop. However that aside a brilliant hard drive and will continue to buy more as needed.

Haven't had many chances to test the capabilities of the SSD, but, so far its performance is quite impressive. Turning on its encryption was also straightforward. I heard many news in the past if its data integrity issues but I hope SanDisk has fixed it and it wouldn't happen down the road.

So small and convenient. I bought the Monterey color as well and it is similar transfer speed. Just Wow! For both of them. It's super fast and the perfect size. I'm using it as an external drive, I truly like the size..wanted alot of space..just excellent for what I need to store. I would recommend. Thanks Seller Amazon!
