Great Value
My Gigi Student Starter Kit came today. I just finished waxing my arms about a half an hour ago. Being of French, Italian, and Indian descent, I sometimes look at my arms and find myself wondering if I'm a woman or a bear. I got them waxed a couple of times at a salon, but $38 plus a tip is too steep an expense for a broke college student to incur every four weeks. So I switched to using those pre-waxed strips you can buy at the drug store. Very convenient, but not cost effective; these gorilla limbs take a box apiece, racking up a bill between $22 and $27 per round. Still not cutting it. And then, there's this kit, which, as of this writing, costs just $35 AND comes with all the stuff I need to be waxing for a good three months or so. All this for less than the cost of one professional wax? That's an automatic five stars in my book. But for the record, here are the highlights of what I noticed while using this tonight: - First, the wax took closer to an hour to completely liquefy. Maybe it's just that my house was cold, but the package claims the wax should be melted in 25 to 30 minutes. Not that it really matters, though. It's not as though you can wax last-minute, anyway. - Other reviewers said they had problems with the muslin strips tearing on them. While I did not have this experience, I much prefer the cloth (non-woven) strips I tried after the large muslin ones ran out. - I highly recommend ordering more waxing strips wile you're ordering this kit. Even if you don't struggle with GLS (gorilla limb syndrome) like me, you'll want more strips to make it through your learning curve. Since this was my first time waxing myself with soft wax, I wasn't exactly economical with the strips and ran out halfway through my second arm. But I'm sure I'll get better with this with enough practice. - Yeah, it's messy, but the mess can be minimized (if not eliminated) with preparation and careful handling. To protect my tabletop, I cut a trash bag along one side and the bottom to make myself a disposable and effective work surface. (Eat your heart out, Pinterest.) - Be aware of your pain tolerance, and be careful of how much wax you smear on yourself at one time. One of the perks of waxing at home is being able to remove large patches of hair at a time, as you're not being treated by an aesthetician who's been trained to handle you delicately. But know the difference between "large" and "too large." At one point, I got too ambitious and wound up flubbing as I tried to tried to remove a large strip that was almost completely saturated in wax. I saw stars on that one--and gave myself a nice bruise right above the elbow. But most of my complaints I consider quibbles, as I really do believe this is the most cost-effective way to wax. Judging from the amount of wax still left in the can, I'm confident I can get another 6 or 7 treatments out of one tub.

no animals were harmed during this waxing
Let's talk waxing, you menfolk might wanna tune out here. So, in the name of maintaining the ever growing facial hair that seems to be growing despite the best defenses I have put up, I bought my own waxing kit. $35 bucks on Amazon. It's been sitting under my bed for the last month and I finally decided to get that sucker out and give it a whirl. Now Lovely Lady often tells me she has no clue how I can pluck eye brow hairs etc cause IT HURTS. Nah, it don't hurt. Try plucking a nose hair, those suckers go all the way down to your who-ha, that hurts!!! Anyway, I pull the wax machine out of the box and am beholding it in all its glory. I'm amazed there really isn't much to it because frankly, the things it takes to maintain ones sense of beauty can be quite scary. I digress. I read the little page of instructions, taking less than 5 minutes and am a bit concerned. There's nothing in these instructions about what temperature to use for what part of the face etc. thankfully I've been getting the mustache waxed for years now so this isn't a new process necessarily so one would think I would be able to master it easily.... One would think. The machine is out of the box, instructions are read, I've put the collar around the wax of can, note to self For the future; remove the lid off the wax before putting the collar on. One should also make a note to not get the wax all over their fingers when doing this as his led the need for goo-gone. I dropped the can into the warmer and turned it on, I have to wait 25-30 minutes for the wax to warm up. In this day and age of 30 sec hot curling irons I'm surprised I have to wait 30 minutes. I'm sure this is a safety feature for people like me who would end up burning down their homes if these suckers heated up any faster. The illustrious machine comes with 2 sizes of strips and 3 different sizes of applicators. I'm gonna have to get with My BFF, who does my hair and nails and used to do my waxing, to figure out what all of those are for, although I may not wanna know. So 30 minutes of waiting and it's warm. I choose a stick, put wax on one side of my lip, I sit the stick to the side, at this point one also might want to make a note not to leave the stick with the wax out where the dog can step on it. This item became attached to the dogs foot which was apparently scary for Emma, but pretty entertaining for me. I got the stick off Emma. I then put the cloth on top of the wax on my lip and pull. It's important to remember to pull against the hair. It's also important to remember not to move your head when doing this. You also might want to watch the amount of wax you use. I found out if you use too much you're only pulling off wax. I did get the mustache removed. This lovely kit also comes with several different bottles of product that do different things. I found out one was not lotion like I thought. It does not rub the lotion into its skin!! It was excess wax remover for the skin that you're supposed to wipe off. I may be slightly itchy now.... However I am still minus one mustache. I don't think it said anything in the instructions about the need for goo-gone but I sure am glad I had some!!! I wouldn't use that on my face though!!! It also didn't mention anything about the possibility of giving myself whiplash during this process, I'll survive. Nor did it say not to use this item around animals. It did say not to use around children, or leave in their reach and sense the animals are like kids to me I guess I should've thought ahead on that one. Over all, I'm satisfied with this item.

If you’re nervous to buy - read this!
I have only used this product on my face but this is so good! I have very fair skin and thick/ full dark eyebrows. For about 10 years I have been getting my eyebrows waxed every 2 weeks at the salon which is $30-$40 a month ($360 a year !!!!!) in waxing depending on the occasion to control them. This product saves me so much time and money. Since I have fair/sensitive skin I can wax in the comfort of my own home and be red for a few hours without the embarrassing walk of shame out of the salon with red eyebrows and/or upper lip. The only thing I don’t really like is the epillation strips but any beauty store sells a variety to replace if it really bothers you that much. These are more thin cloth like and I’m used to a more towel/cotton plush feel at the salon. They work just fine but I think I want to experiment with others to see what I like best. It was my first time using wax on myself so I was a little oblivious to the fact that it gets super messy quick and if you’re not careful everything is sticky - definitely put a towel down and keep out of reach from tiny humans and pets! As far as the waxing process, I was nervous but I did small sections at a time until I felt comfortable doing larger sections. I heated the wax on high according to instructions then kept it on low (45 min from start to finish). The stick to apply is angled so before you dip in the wax look at the applicator tip to see which direction you should hold the applicator stick to apply the wax evenly. I used a modest amount of wax and placed the apillation strip over and firm pressure. When ready I pulled the strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth. I continued the process until I was done and then trimmed the eyebrows. If you make a mess on your hands or didn’t pull all the wax off it comes with a lotion that rubs the wax off and super helpful. I also think the pre-wax powder was a game changer and worth trying! Overall my eyebrows are still there and I am very happy! No break outs or irritation - just a little red for a few hours but that is normal for my skin from experience. *I don’t know how this works on the rest of the body and I don’t intend on finding out.* ☺️

Personal Experience as a first time user.
First of all, I will recommend the seller, to change/improve the way the product is packed, the lid (as many other comment) came broken. If so many people have had the same problem it might be time to do something about it. The item (box) was perfectly protected, nothing in it seemed to be previosly opened, in fact I needed a sharp object to get rid of the bubble wrap, (this outside the box) inside the box everything came protected with little plastic bags but it might need something else to protect the lid. This last one, came inside the box in a plastic bag ( you can see in the picture) so it might have been broken because of the movement of the box in the transportation, the material of the lid, looks cheap and the fact that is broken does not affect the way the Warmer works ( maybe except that takes longer than usual for the wax to get completely liquid). I decided to return the product, but It turns out you cannot do that due to Amazon politics on flamable items. So this is not something you can do, but they helped to solve my problem and here I am. I like to use the product properly and in order to do it so, I glue the lid back together, as I mentioned, it is simple plastic so no big deal, you might have crazy glue at home so if you order the product an your lid came broken you can solve the problem in no more than five minutes. Since the lid is not attached to the warmer with a screw or anything ( looks like a decoration bowl, honestly) The product itself it is really easy to use, I didn't realize how much time exactly takes for the wax to be warm enough to be usable,(since I turned it on, and started to some shores around the house), If you do not want to read, You can find instructions in youtube if you want to do all the steps marked down in the instructions manual. The wax is kept warm in a very nice temperature so it didnt burn my skin, no irritation or anything like that, I used it in different parts of my body, included my face. If is your first time waxing at home this is a great product to start with. I give it 4 stars since the product was in perfect condition to use, almost everything came as described and the picture shows exactly all the product you must get, (only problem THE BROKEN LID)

No pain No gain hair removal and Clean-up
Home waxing is so easy, thought I wouldn't be able to do the ripping, hey no pain, no gain. It was a little messy at first, not saying I've mastered the mess, you just need to take your time. performing your own waxing is nearly painless, no more appointments or waiting in line. My daughter and I wax ourselves or on another. The kit pays for itself in just a few applications. I've purchased extra paddles/sticks, collars and muslin strips. Additionally, keeping your area and machine wax free is easy too, I was reading where someone was taking about the wax cleaner product, they said it works "good", but it smells like acetone. BINGO! I'd just purchased a large bottle to remove heavy layers of nail polish; I used an old terry cloth, and a little muscle and my little Gigi is as good as new not mention my sink area. I'm doubly happy with this purchase, highly recommend!

Hate the wax!
I absolutely HATE this wax! Sticky, messy, not even the "wax off" bottle work well. I was so excited to try this waxing set and I'm so disappointed now. Sucks I can't not even return it. Ok so while I have my legs full of coconut oil to try to remove the rest of wax I'm writing this. So ok, honestly I don't think the problem is the warmer but the WAX, I bought the student kit that came (yesterday) with the all purpose honey wax and it's terrible the worse experience I had with wax, super sticky (yeah duh, I know "honey sticky"), it never get dry or hard. So everything u touch with it gets almost impossible to be removed. I will try with the hard wax from Gigi and give it a chace. I will keep living like a homo sapiens while I get the new hard wax and finger cross to work great. I will be definitely updating my review if I get a better experience with the next one. And if is not, well I will not be recommending this kit! *****UPDATE***** So after I tried the wax that cames with the kit the soft one honey wax and hated it I decide to buy the Brazilian Hard Wax from Gigi. I was very excited to try it bc this is the kind I was used to use before the hard kind. It just get dry and you pull it taking all your hair with it. It's way less messy then the soft kind but this one particularly the Brazilian hard wax after give it the chance it just disappointed me so bad! To be a hard kind it never gets dry! Never! It's like if I wax my legs with bubble gum, I'm so frustrated now! I try already 2 different wax from this brand and in my experience both sucks!! Terrible messy, I'm still have my legs all sticky and don't even talk about my poor armpit. Now, I will have to keep looking for a better hard wax. I will absolute not recommend this brand. Make your wallet a favor and skip this one! You can thanks me later.
