What is the diameter of the bottom which goes into the candle holder?

Joseph, it's the same diameter of any taper candle. I can wedge it into my glass hurricane that holds a taper. Great candles! Just order!

Will these fit into the top of a wine bottle?

Yes! Absolutely. The bottom of candle has ridges that you can 'screw' into the top of a wine bottle. Go for it. And remember, they burn perfectly so no annoying dripping on your bottle!

Why are these being sold 4 times the amount ikea charges?

I have no idea, only to say they are of a very excellent quality.

These candles smell terrible. How do I get rid of the bad smell so they can be used in the house?

I have to call out the questioner here. These are high quality, high stearin candles. We've used them over many, many years to illuminate our dining room over the winter. They don't smell like anything. They just illuminate beautifully.
