Everything about these grinders is excellent except for one thing (and I’ve realized the problem is user error).These are REALLY nice looking grinders, appear to be well made, are VERY easy to refill, adjusting the grind is super easy AND you actually do get different grind sizes from each position. Well worth the cost over less expensive grinders I’ve used in the past.I only had one issue and, again, this is on me. While the salt grinder works perfectly, I found the pepper mill very hard to turn especially when using the finer settings. In the past, I have used other grinders in a near vertical position so that’s how I started using the Cole and Mason grinders. The salt grinder works as expected regardless of what angle I hold it in but the pepper binds up if used in a vertical or near vertical position. If I hold it in a horizontal position, the grinder works fine and doesn’t bind up. I think in the vertical it’s grinding too much pepper at once and clogging the grinding gears causing the “problem”. Solution? I’ve had to learn to use this properly and grind when holding it horizontally. Duh. This is why I should read directions.

Beautifully designed and wonderfully smooth grinding action. Superb quality, this is definitely worth the money will stand the test of time.
