THIS REALLY WORKS !!
I've been trying to get on top of leg ulcer sores I've had for 2 months now.. 1 emergency room visit, 4 doctor visits & $5,000 later... not one medical person suggested the need to ALSO FOCUS ON HEALING THE SORE ITSELF! I've been exudating maybe 2 cups or more of serum daily from my 3 sores (yellowish to clear liquid) that cover 20 square inches total from all 3 sores. Walking around the house with a rolled towel taped around my bare angle and changing it every couple hours... I never realized until now how terrible and painful leg ulcers can be.I got this Algicate+ Gelling Calcium Alginate and my leg felt way better the very first day AND I had zero fluid weeping from my gauze wrap, WOW!! I left it on for 3 days and should've only did it for 2 days. It gels up and seals the wound with the gel, so rinse all of that off really good when you change dressings.I also purchased the Algicate Ag "Silver Calcium Alginate Dressing" 10-pack and put that on today. It also gels up, but also has silver in the dressing which inhibits bacteria growth and I'm going to alternate this dressing with the Calcium Alginate dressing. Two more important things I did... over the top of the above dressings I'm also adding a 6"x6" MedVance Foam" SKU # V1000606 non-adherent foam dressing. This one is SUPER absorpent and super thick and I think it greatly added to finally ending any exudate from soaking through the outer gauze dressing. Because these sores are on each side and rear of my lower calf and I'm by myself.. I used a little piece of breathable 3m tape to tape the dressings over the top of the sores, little piece on top & bottom of the dressing to hold them in place so I could wrap them a roll of cotton gauze. The second thing I'm trying with this bandage change is to rub a thin coat of MediHoney over the silver dressing before appying it to the sore. Since the sores already appear like they're healing, I think this will help insure there's no sticking to the wound or drying out the areas that are already healing. These dressing state right on the wrapper that they're for moist draining wounds and it might overly dry the skin of a wound that is not draining.Bottom line is this dressing, plus also using the really thick 6x6 foam over the top, then wrapping the entire leg area with a gauze wrap... stopped ALL exudating leaking from the bandage and my outer gauze wrap stayed dry for 3 days. PLUS after having this dressing on the wound for only 3 days and already see obvious improvement to wounds and since I've been fighting issue going on 2 months now, I strongly urge you to use the suggestions above to end your misery!

Works very well
These bandages are so incredibly superior to basic gauze pads! Made from seaweed, they absorb fluids (exudate) from covered wounds and form a protective gel layer. Best of all, they don't stick to the wound, unlike normal gauze, making for much easier changing, cleaning, and wound maintenance; if at all sticky, just irrigate with some saline or sterile water, and they'll release. I don't understand why anyone, given the choice, would subject themselves to the pain and problems of normal gauze when there's a product like this available! Our colorectal surgeon required this for pilonidal cyst wound care -- cut in thin strips to fill wound. It's the best wound dressing for pilonidal cyst surgical wounds, covered with gauze and or menstrual pads. Each sheet easily cuts into strips of whatever size you need. Best wound filler!Works well on the oozing venous stasis/diabetic leg. Absorbs excess of exudate in the wound and keeps it clean and adequately moist . It is easy to remove the dressing, it does not stick. Ordered more. Thank you!

Really stops persistent bleeding
Used on a dog with an ulcerated bleeding tumor about 5cm by 5cm. When this thing would start to bleed, it just would not stop. Not pressure, not ice..not any of the usual things. Two sheets of this put round the tumor and bleeding stops. Can stay in place for three days. You do need to cover it with non-adherant gauze. This stuff is amazing. Strongly recommend.
