Good quality, achieved a dark black when used over henna.
Dark and works great! I received a fresh batch -- the powder is finely milled, the dye release is fast and using it on my greying black hair with henna in a 2-step method gave a deep soft black. Just plain henna alone gives me a very bright orange on my grays that isn't flattering, so I prefer to overdye with indigo for a more natural look. I used very warm water and added sea salt to the mixture. A little went a long way. Be sure to wear gloves when dyeing and rinsing out, it will stain your hands and nails -- and your sink if you don't clean up promptly. The price is great too, comparable to the powdered indigo I would buy in Asia.

THE BEST HENNA EVER!!!
I suddenly developed a sensitivity to hair dye after 30 years. My hair was falling out and looked hideous!! It also started to come in white in patches. I looked like a collie dog with mange. I couldn't stand how ugly I looked. It was really, really bad.I looked at hundreds of reviews on henna and utube videos on applying it, and this henna was the best reviewed. I got it right away, then mixed it with a whole jar of medaglia D'Oro espresso powder and lemon juice, covered it and let it sit for 24 hours. I wasn't looking forward to putting that on my head, but worked the whole thing into the roots and all through my long hair. It kept glopping onto my arms and shoulders and I noticed that it was actually soothing my skin. It felt cooling, which I was surprised by. I put it all on, wrapped my hair up with a shower cap, and got through 5 hours before I had to get it out. 8 hours was my goal, but I was too impatient. I rinsed it out with tons of conditioner and it came out a beautiful renaissance red, an incredible deep red with gold highlights. It covered my grey hair completely (I have very resistant greys). I had bought some indigo powder to get it dark brown or black, but I loved this color so much that I am staying with it. My husband, who had helped me with the whole project was amazed too, he had seen every hair color over the years and said it was the most natural color I've ever had, in his opinion. I have been taking Alive vitamins, evening primrose capsules and biotin tincture to help my hair growth and heal my skin, and use Aveda Clove shampoo and conditioner, which deposits some deep clove highlights to the color giving it depth. It gave me confidence to look better, as shallow as that sounds, and it's fun to be a redhead anyway....

Definitely get it for natural black colored hair
I love this product. This is 100% natural and I don't have any side effects while using it. I first apply henna on my hair and later after washing it, I use Indigo powder. I love how it turns my hair black naturally. The color stays on for 3 weeks and then the roots start to look gray. I'm not even in my 30's and I have a lot of gray hair. I don't want to go for dyes and all, since it causes a lot of hair damage. I want to mention a few points about this powder:1. It does smell a bit. Not sure if it is the smell of the powder or if it is supposed to smell like that. Might annoy some people. But, the smell goes away with washing.2. I'd be very mindful if having color on my hand annoys me a bit. This will leave some color on your hand especially the nail bed if you apply with bare hands.3. Similarly, I'd also use a cloth or something on my pillow after I wash it off. I don't immediately use shampoo, I use it the next day, therefore I have some leakage on my pillowcase. Similarly, when you wash for the first time after a few days of applying, your shower might turn black (Don't worry, goes away with water). But, again not sure if this is a product thing or a brand thing.I have tried another brand from a nearby Indian store, and that doesn't leak, it doesn't smell this strong either. Overall, if I keep aside the smell I'd buy this product again. This brand has my trust. It is 100% organic. Additionally, I have medium-length hair, and one packet lasts three times. That is like $3 or so, for coloring your hair naturally at home without any side effects.Lastly, for the people with colored hair or with highlights. Be careful, guys. I made the mistake of applying the powder on my entire hair ( scalp as well as the length). The highlights also turned black (Lol!). Eventually, the color comes back after 2-3 washes, but something to avoid if you don't like your highlights colored black.

Henna doesn't develop/ changes color
I have been purchasing this product for close to a decade, always the same brand same supplier. I use it once a month on hair. This last purchase does not work at all, you can't get the henna to develop and does nothing on hair, I have tried it multiple times. Because the 30 days is up, you can't return the product.

Great for two step method
I've been doing the two step method for a long time so I definitely did not follow the instructions on the product packaging. It has good staying power, even on the greys. My usual product was out at the store, but this turned out to be a good stand in.Please just don't use lukewarm water and don't let it dry. Apply it either with henna or after henna.Boil your distilled water and let it cool down to a heat that can touch your scalp, definitely do not just go in with lukewarm to release the dye. Add 1/2 tablespoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum to the dry mix to help with dye uptake and product consistency. Don't let it dry, cover it in plastic and keep the paste wet and steeping in your hair, under a heating cap if you have one. Once you've let the mud process for an hour, rinse it out with just water or use an oil free silicone free conditioner to help loosen the sediment. Wait 24 hours before using shampoo. Voila.

Doesn't fully cover henna
Bought this because I was hoping to get close to black with a combination of henna followed by indigo. I got to maybe a medium auburn - a bit darker red than I can achieve with henna alone but no where close to the shade I was looking for. For reference, I dyed my hair with henna first, washed out the henna, then mixed up and applied the indigo. The indigo coated the hair to some degree but not enough to get it even close to black. Guess I'll have to find a different brand to help me hide my greys.
