How to Start a Home-based Car Detailing Business (Home-Based Business Series)

I am college student who wants to start a detailing business to help pay my books and tuition and as a stepping stone into a bigger business and decided to go with Renny. I heard from him from Autogeek.net and from Mike Phillips (also recommend him and his book). I have limited detailed experience. Before I found about Renny and Mike I was learning here and there from neighborhood detailers and car washes. Some of them were good detailers but really lacked the business part of it. Other just plain sucked I mean the guys at the car washes did not even know the difference between a cleaner wax and a wax. Yeah that bad. Anyways, after reading Renny's book it amazed me how much quality information it has. From marketing, sales, detailing, laws, and equipment, and a little more. There are some parts that I think he should of gone more into detail or expanded more and provided some links. However, he exposes everything a person needs in order to become successful. Overall, it is a real good book and tells a reader to always do quality work. I was really impressed with his book that I want to learn about steaming cleaning and train with him. I like how he teaches you about having a good, simple menu and touches other bits and pieces about life and about finding mentors.The pros: I would say the quality of the material and I got the Kindle edition for like $10. The price helps a college student.The cons: There should be a part 2 to this because it is really good.Some more tips do not make the same mistakes that I did when I starting detailing for practice. Learn from someone because I spent about $500 in equipment and supplies that I do not really need. Also learn from the junkman2000 in youtube its free and he is pretty chill. You guys can try to purchase stuff from craiglists way cheaper.I hope my review really helps and stands out from all other reviews. Look for me Rudy Lima I am going to be a therapists one day. I bought this book a month ago.I am a life long detailer, Let me tell you - even if you know how to clean a car and think you already have what it takes it will put your business in overdrive. It has opened my mind to many things - like how to outline a business plan, approach a potential client and representing my local detailing business.I also like the easy reading - you can pick a topic of your specific needs at any time in your life and read there. I also don't just read the book and put it on a shelf, but use this book as a daily guide and it never gets put away! If your detailing adventure would ever fail it wouldn't be because you didn't have the keys to success.Because I already have a passion for detailing I love this book.If you need passion - it will create that fire within you!

I read this book in two days and it is filled with some of the most informative information needed to successfully run a detailing business. This books shares the author's personal experience as well as some of his friends. It answers almost every question someone would have about detailing. It really helped me put things into perspective and plan accordingly. If you are looking for great information, then this is your book. If you are looking for a fairytale this is not your book because the TRUTH is what is shared with passion and clarity. This should definitely an initial investment for all looking to enter the detailing business because it explains all of the successes and pitfalls that one may encounter.

This book is jam packed but almost a little too much. It's tough to get through... HOWEVER I give it four stars because there's a lot of good business insight that is just generally good as well as insight specific to detailing. My suggestion, skim the table of contents, highlight and read the parts that interest you first and then as you continue or start your business start keep this as a good reference manual (your guide on the side). If you attempt to read it cover to cover like a novel you'll burn out... the info inside is really good so just adjust how you approach it as a resource and you'll get a lot out of it.

I was hoping it would include how to detail a car. But nothing at all on that. Just a whole book on how to start the business. Ummmm, I want to send back.

This was recommended by some automotive detailing gurus from some articles I was reading about starting a detail business. This book is awesome, it really does spell out a lot of things you may not have thought about. It is up to date as well. It will answer questions you didn't even know you had and make you think about things you may have never thought of, in addition to answering the questions you do have. Highly recommend.

This book was very informative if you are planning or have a detailing business. I have change some of business practices and also changed some of my business plan because of some very informative information information that was said in the book. In my opinion, this is a great read for any detail business owner or person thinking of starting a detail business. For the price, it has tons of helpful information.

Rather basic and full of padding. There are so many 'Make a Million' books which are all quite interesting, but leave you feeling like there's nothing more than the basics being discussed and with half an hour to think about, it would be pretty obvious.I was hoping for some in-depth hints and tips, but really there aren't many, if any. it is basically, just another how to start and run a fledgling business and you could take out 'Car Detailing' and put in any words you like really. I had hoped for just a tiny handful of insights that I may never have thought of.If your business fails it will probably be your fault for not being focussed, driven and committed enough - If it succeeds, well, I don't think it will be because of this book.I valeted my first ever car in 1982 - That was before it was referred to as detailing. I do know that of which I speak.

This is a highly recommended book by many popular detailing forums, an absolute must-have for any small detailing business owner.
