#8 Phillips round head would be fine depending on what you're screwing it into. 1." - 1.5" L or up to a #10

Will this handlke 1/2" flex conduit (which is 1/2" inside but is perhaps 5/8" outside)?

If you wanted to bend each one out a bit they would. The gap measure between is .5" and that's a snug 0.5" The strap is plenty sturdy. ( Contract work that requires inspection. I do not know if it's legal to bend them ). The bracket is plenty strong. I used them to attach cattle fence panels to a wall. 3/4" bracket and bend it in may be easier.
