Better Living Products 17900 Extendable Squeegee for Showers Silver Chrome

At first, I was ready to send this back. It seemed that the rubber didn't extend far enough beyond the metal strip and was very stiff. It made an awful thump, thump, thump noise as we tried used it to squeegee off the glass blocks in the shower - nor did it removing much water. But decided to keep it so my husband could use it for the shower floor. After 5-7 days of use, we noticed the floor no longer has standing puddles of water on the tile - it almost looks like we dried it off just after turning the shower off. It also no longer makes such an awful noise on the glass blocks. Overall, it dries off the shower much better than our old one leaving less for us to wipe down with a towel. We live in an area with hard water (and have a water softener) but the minerals still build up quickly. Squeegeeing off the shower walls and floors sure saves heavy duty cleaning trying get the white mineral scale off!

Cleans well, attractive in the shower, expands to reach higher, doesn't last as long as you think it should, my last one lasted 8 month then fell apart

Here is what's good: 1. The style is great. Looks beautiful hanging in the shower. 2. The extension arm is fabulous design for tall showers. You extend the arm when you use the squeegee, and hang/store it in the shorter closed position. 3. The squeegee does the job fine. Yes, there is a lot of squeaking in the beginning, but it did not bother us. 4. We had no problem with the suction cup. We have smooth marble wall. Here's what's bad: The screws are the problem. After about 2 months, they fall off and the blade is not held in place, and you have a useless squeegee. We replaced the screws and thought we solved the problem. Here's what's terrible: After about 5 months, the extension arm button breaks off and the squeegee arm becomes a limp, useless piece of junk. There was nothing we could do to fix it. This squeegee is a good design. It's just cheaply made and executed. I hope the manufacturer will improve the product based on everyone's comments. After 10 months, I just bought my 3rd one for our shower. Why? My shower is all glass and I need to clean it after each use. I need something with a long arm, and I can't stand the ugly ones from the hardware store. I hope some other company will design something better soon! 6 months later... Today is Jan 10, 2015, this squeegee that I bought in June 2014 just broke. So average life span is about 6 months!!!! This product is definitely not worth it.

There were 2 problems seen consistently in the reviews of this product. 1) The squeegee did not squeegee very well, and 2) The squeegee was very squeaky. Even with these flaws, I decided to go ahead and give it a try because I like the style and the extendable arm for use in my newly renovated master bathroom shower. Well these problems are true but I really, really liked the look of this squeegee. I wanted something nice for my new upscale shower and did not want it to look industrial. I was torn because these 2 problems are deal breakers (non-functional and annoying) but there was nothing else close to fitting what I wanted. These 2 problems are caused by the same issue - the silicone rubber blade is too short. So I went in search of a replacement blade on Amazon and found one that was slightly wider and that solved both issues. It was a bit of a struggle to insert the new blade but my ingenious husband got it done. Voila! the perfect squeegee... now. In my opinion, this squeegee is not worth purchasing as-is and the manufacturer should change/upgrade the blade (My 3 star rating is based on 5 stars for style and 1 star for functionality before my modification)

I'm back to buy another. It has worked great for 16 months. Recently, the small push button stopped working. The button is used to lock the extension handle in place when in closed and extended positions. - Use: We used this squeegee twice a day, everyday for 16 months, when not out of town. Our shower has 100 sq ft surface area of glass that is cleaned and another 124 sq ft of tile area that is also cleaned with this squeegee. That's 224 sq ft. of surface cleaned by the squeegee twice a day. It's in the extended position for most all areas then moved back to the closed position for the glass door and shower floor. We basically squeegee down all side walls. door and the shower floor area to not leave water to dry and create soap scum or any other buildup. - Sound: Some reviewers complain about the sound. If the squeegee is held at the right angle the sound is reduced where it does not bother us at all. It is not silent or near silent, but we can easily change the angle to increase of reduce the sound it makes. It may be louder when new. - Pros: Our shower glass and tile walls are 10 ft high. I am 6' tall and with the squeegee extended I can get about 1 ft or closer to the 10 ft. top. It cleans the surfaces well. No issues there. The hole on the end of the handle allows us to hang it from a suction cup and keep it off the shower floor. The extension operation is smooth and quick to switch back and forth by pressing in a button to lock the handle place from close to extended position (2 positions only). - Cons: #1 It is not 100% silent operation, which someone can hear from outside the bathroom. It does make a varying squeaky noise, but many downward strokes are almost silent except for a few knock sounds from the squeegee itself as it touches corners and the bottom of the shower. The sound depends on how wet the surface is and the angle you are holding the squeegee. Wet surface and held at the right angle it can be almost silent. The dryer the surface the more sound it will make. #2 The button no longer works so the extension arm is loose. Everything else works great, including the rubber part. Our problem now is dealing with a loose arm, which does not help with up to 10 ft. heights to clean. We also cannot hang the squeegee from the suction cup in the area where we have had it (low to the floor) because it stays in the extended position when hung upside down. We like the floor clear to allow everything to completely dry, avoiding areas where mildew can get a foothold. Now it has to be hung higher on the wall to keep it off the floor, which does not look pleasant. Overall - We were very satisfied to get as much use out of it as we have over the past 16 months and we buying another to replace the current one.

Great for sower doors! Second one we have owned. THE FIRST ONE LAST OVER 8 YEARS!

This squeegee is great. It’s both nice to look at and it works beautifully. We needed an extended handle as our shower glass runs floor to ceiling. I didn’t notice that there is a transparent plastic sleeve covering the rubber when you first receive it. I too was disappointed like some of the other reviews until I realized the sleeve was on it. Now it works great!

2nd one , last one lasted 10 yrs

Not yet had the thing long enough to use it but it appears sturdy and well made. Unfortunately the suction hook supplied appears to be totally useless. Literally it did not stay up for 5 minutes before there was a crash from the shower room and there was the squeegee and the hook on the floor of the shower tray. It is just as well I found the write up on Amazon included warnings about how poor the suction hook could be and had purchased something that appears to be working as it has now been up for about half an hour.

The item itself is good. What lets it down though is the suction cup that the squeegee hangs from - when you try to stick it to either the tiled wall or the glass screen you can tell it's just not going to stay there for more than a few minutes before it drops off! The suction cup itself is just too soft and goes inside out when you try to stick it up. You wonder how it was ever accepted during the selection process when it's not even capable of supporting it's own weight - never mind a heavy metal squeegee. Shame. I'll probably return it.

The rubber edge has be replaced with a thicker more durable one. It is less flexible and will likely last even longer but it causes an annoying noise and skips some areas.
