OXO Good Grips Stainless Steel Splatter Screen with Folding Handle

Great splatter deflector. It reduces at least 80% of the fine grease spatter and 100% of the big bits that might fly of with it. Does it eliminate needing to clean the stove? No, but it makes my life much easier. I love the folding handle. I have a gas range and have had no issues with discoloration of the metal. There is some color where I accidentally subjected the steel to direct fire, but that's what happens when you try to burn metal. Zero impact to it's function. If this one wears out, then I will buy another.

My husband gets so mad at me because I rarely turn on the vent fan over our range when cooking. But when I hear things sizzling and splattering about, I absolutely reach for a splatter screen first. I had a set of 3 mesh splatter screens that I loved. 3 different sizes for different sized pans. They claimed to be dishwasher safe but over time, they rusted and one handle eventually broke off. When looking for a new splatter screen I came across this one and immediately loved that is was Oxo brand as I believe they are great quality products. I also loved that this was a one size fits all screen, meaning I only needed to store one and not 3. In addition, the folding handle option is awesome! It allows me to easily store it in cabinets and in the dishwasher. In addition, it feels sturdy like it will not break off easily. As far as the ability to keep my range top clean and limit splatter, it does a good job. But I have found with almost any splatter screen, you are never going to have complete avoidance of some grease getting on your counters/stove top. But this one definitely helps limit that a lot. In addition, it fits great over all of my pans. It is very very large! My only complaint is that it is so large that it actually gets a bit stuck in the dishwasher when I am pulling the bottom rack out and pushing it back in. But as long as I am careful about how it is leaning when I do this, it is fine.

In general, OXO makes very good products - and this is no exception. The screen itself is not wire mesh like most such products. It’s a stainless steel shield with holes drilled in it; this corrals spattering cooking grease much more effectively than woven wire. It’s large enough for most pans, and it can be hung by its handle or stored with the handle folded flat against the disc. Theoretically it’s dishwasher safe, but it’s so large that you’ll probably need to have a load in which you can lay it flat on an upper rack. However, the relatively smooth pierced surface pretty easy to clean by hand (again, much more so than wire mesh) so you’ll have options. If you’ll be using it with a sauté pan that has a handle angling upwards, you may have to fiddle around a bit to get everything stable and in place. I also had to bend the rim of my screen a little bit, as the curve it came with kept it from sitting firmly on the edges of the pan. The screen comes with circles of different sizes, indicating how to place it on smaller or larger pans. Even though you may have to get used to how best to handle and clean it for your circumstances, it does such a better job at keeping grease spatters off your stove and kitchen that I’d predict you won’t mind having to do a little on the job learning. Cleaning a stove is a LOT more work!

Great design! It works beautifully, as most OXO products do. It even worked well on my littlest 7" diameter saucepan. The handle has a nice solid comfortable grip that my arthritic fingers can grip and hold effortlessly. Easy to wash the screen, and the handle collapses with a simple push of a button for flat storage. Again I'll say, great design OXO. I'm thrilled to finally find a good splatter screen that works as advertised.

I recently purchased the OXO splatter screen, which has renewed my enthusiasm for pan-searing. I wish I had known about these devices sooner! Cleanup is so much better. It provides about a 90% + reduction in spatters: a few still get out, but mostly when you have to take it off to flip your food. I have put a paper towel over the top of it to catch tiny droplets as well, but I don't know if this really makes a difference. I like that it fits multiple pot sizes, but there is a lot of overhang with a small pan. It still works great, but if you have a narrow/small stove, it could encroach on other burners. I prefer this potential trade-off vs. having to store multiple splatter guards. Dishwasher clean up is great, but it does take up a fair amount of space. Overall, an excellent device and one that I recommend.

Was looked for a new splatter screen for cooking and keeping the messes contained and this worked out perfectly! It's straight edged, so it can sit on most pots or pans. It's also quite large, so it even covers my largest used pans for sauteing or frying. Great quality and value with an easy to clean screen and a folding handle.

The main point is that this splatter shield reduces the amount of grease spatter, not eliminate it. If you are searing each side of a steak, for example, have paper towels handy to wipe up the spatter. We were hoping to have quite a bit less. If I was to guess, I would say it cuts the spatter by half. Still a lot of grease on an induction or glass cooktop!

Hardy, high quality. I love that the handle folds up to save space. Only draw back is you have to press something before folding it, which I always forget and kind of bend the screen a bit.
