As advertised
These bags are great. I can bake and freeze several loaves of bread now without worrying about freezer burn. It’s like magic. I’m delighted. Easy to clean, holds more than one loaf depending on size. They DO NOT keep bread fresh on the counter. They DO keep bread from getting freezer burn.

Who knew storing bread was this easy?
Around my house, we bake a lot. One of the things we've struggled with for a while was how to store fresh-baked bread. We have a large storage container, but it took up way more space than was really warranted. These bread bags, though? They're more compact and keep the bread fresh, even in humid environments like where I live. More importantly, the bread bags are easier to clean than a large plastic storage bin, so it's a big win as far as my family and I are concerned. We've put everything from shokupan to sourdough into these bread bags for storage, and it's worked great for everything. They don't seem like they'd do a lot, but these bread bags don't let things get stale and we haven't had a problem with mold yet (granted it's only been a few weeks).

For freezer use only!!
Update: Great customer service, they reached out and offered a refund upon seeing my picture of the tear in the bag. They did also point out that the description does state that these bags are not intended to extend the life of homemade bread on the countertop, and that they are designed for freezer use only, so that would explain why my bread was going stale so quickly on the countertop! Original: Great size, I can fit 2 homemade loaves very comfortably and even up to 3 but then it’s a little hard to close. I recently noticed a large rip that I have no idea how it happened but there are two layers so I guess it’s not a huge deal. Only major con is that it doesn’t really seem to keep the bread as fresh as I had hoped. I was using just regular ziploc bags before which worked great but wanted something reusable and expected these to work the same but a lot of air gets in these bags even after rolling and buckling them. The bread just seems to go stale a lot faster with these then it did with the ziploc bags.

READ THE ITEM DESCRIPTION before giving out 1-star reviews!
They are very specific in saying that these bags are not designed to lengthen the life of your bread, yet so many people seem to be dinging them for not doing exactly that. Here's why I like this product (for doing what it is intended to do): it is *not* (and should not be) airtight! We all know bread exposed to open air will dry out quicker than when kept in a container. So, as with many foods, people seem to think that an airtight container is the solution. With bread it's not. Sealing bread in a plastic container may delay the hardening of the bread, but it's not extending its freshness, just its "softness" — and it's soft because the moisture is trapped inside. Moisture results in mold spores (even those you cannnot see) — if that's what you want, have at it. No, bread needs *some* air, some degree of breathability. And, like a bread box, this bread bag offers that. The other bread bags you see on here that that are cotton/linen on the outside, but have plastic or silicone liners may just as well be Ziplock bags — they achieve the same thing. And while this product (from Think4Earth) is made from recycled plastic bottles (kudos to them) neither the inner nor outer lining is "plastic" — they're a tightly woven textile similar to nylon (sure, synthetic — it's still made from plastic bottles, after all!). But any woven textile (that I can think of) will allow for airflow, i.e. will not be airtight, which is good. A cotton/linen bag alone is probably too loose of a weave, and result in too much air exposure. These bags will allow for just the right amount of breathability, delaying the hardening of the bread somewhat, while NOT trapping moisture in with the bread. The roll and clip feature to close the bag allows you to press most of the air out, while preventing the bag from expanding. Result: limited airflow. And if you really want to extend the life of your bread, you need to freeze it. Here again, these bags are optimal for that: the double lining protects from freezer burn, while the breathability means you can thaw the bread still in the bag. (You should not do this with plastic/airtight bags when thawing). So it's a solid product. And no, I'm not a spokesperson nor do I know anybody who works for the company. I give it four stars, because I rarely give out five stars anymore (and too many products are diluted with some amount of paid five-star reviews to up their rating.) Just know that I am happy with my purchase and would recommend these bread bags.

No more freezer yuck bread.
I make my own bread. These keep the bread in the freezer from getting frost, or hard crust, or yucky! My bread tastes like it did the day I baked it, two months later.

Does not keep bread soft
Does not keep bread soft and from what I have been reading, a good product should have beeswax material inside to help retain the bread quality. This one is plastic. I was not a good purchase for me.

Black "stuff" on bread
Terrible! No matter how tight we closed it or didn't close the bag tight. My bread started to mold around day 4-5. A few times, the bread had black ink on some spots. Pretty sure it was the ink from the bags. It wouldn't rub off. I did wash them before using and always made sure my loaves were "dry" before putting the bread in it.

Easy to use, keeps bread fresh
I tried these bags after an epic failure of another style. These bags are great. There is no zipper; just roll the top down and clip the buckle. It works on the same principle as a dry bag does for protecting items when you're out camping. The bags are plenty large enough in the opening and length to hold a loaf of bread. Do know that they are not meant for a baguette style loaf. One of my bags has been keeping a loaf of homemade sourdough for 5 days and it's still fresh. The other bag is holding a batch of sourdough blueberry muffins. I am pleased and thankful to have found these bags.
