The Big Book of Airplanes (DK Big Books) Hardcover – Picture Book, March 1, 2016

My 3-year old grandson is totally into planes, helicopters, etc. He LOVES this book. Fantastic pictures and some good tidbits of information. He likes it when we look at it together, but he also just likes to sit on the couch and look at all the pictures. I highly recommend this book for the toddler/pre-schooler in your life who is really into flying "machines" of all kinds!

We gave this book about airplanes to our little neighbor boy who loves airplanes. The name doesn’t lie; it is a really BIG book with lots of pictures of airplanes! And our little neighbor absolutely loves it!

My 2-1/2 year old son loves to "read" this book, and I enjoy reading it to him.The text is definitely written to an older child (I would say that a child would have to be in at least second grade before reading it on his or her own). Fortunately, there are enough snippets of information that an adult can tailor the words to fit the child as she or he reads aloud.The photos, though, are what make this book so attractive. Each type of aircraft (to include experimental aircraft, Chinook helicopters, and future space-shuttle-like craft)has a two-page spread of photos in this oversized book. Most types feature at least three photos: one from the side, one from directly in front (the SR-71 Blackbird and the jumbo jet are particularly striking!) and one from the rear. Every type of aircraft has a photo taken while flying.My young son is learning that jet planes don't have propellers and that rocket engines look different from jet engines. Of course, at first, he was more interested in the striking colors of the aircraft chosen for the photos, but this book allows him to grow. He has a while yet before he learns "it all", unlike some of the other airplane books for young children.An enthusiastic thumbs up!

Huge book of airplanes. Seriously, huge. Kids love reading and learning about planes for hours at a time. Perfect for all your little (and big) aviators!

The pictures are fun and there is lots of information, but some information was lacking or not exactly correct. My son loves the book. So if you are looking for a fun kids book and you don't have someone in the family that knows everything about airplanes than this is perfect.

The book is quite large. I bought it for my husband as he loves airplanes.

I have a 12-year-old that is obsessed with aircrafts. This was a great book and great gift for him. Highly recommend

I purchased this for my 2yo grandson.He LOVES planes and helicopters. I figured he'd like the pictures for now, but whenever he gets the book, he tells me, "read it". Some of the information is a little dated due to the publishing date, but it doesn't matter to him. Nice, large pictures typical of DK books. Front and back covers have sillouetts of the planes in the book. He knows a lot of their names, just by the outline. Very satisfied with my purchase.
