Good idea but don't last very long. This set (my 3rd over time) did not have any paper tab blocking the battery terminals. Oversight or downgrade? As a likely result, they just don't hold a charge very well - a few hours. Expect best results if placed in full sun all day long.

Just the right amount of light to see step between two decks.

Needed deck stairs illuminated at 4 or 5 am. These lights are well-made and easy to install, but they gave out way too early in the night, leaving me still in the dark at 5 am...UNTIL I replaced the batteries with much higher capacity AA Rechargeables, as a reviewer elsewhere suggested. I swapped out the Ni-Cd 400mAh that came with each light, for an Eneloop Ni-MH 2000mAh. Now---TaDa!--- my stairs stay illuminated until the sun comes up, and I couldn't be happier with the lights. Other reviewer also suggested using a good, SLOW charger to charge the Eneloops every several weeks during short-daylight times of the year, when limited sunlight alone couldn't provide the daily recharge needed. I'll try that if these tire out too early each night. Just wish the manufacturer would alert buyers to this easy "fix" if illumination is desired until dawn, but I'm grateful the other reviewer explained the option---Thank You, Sir!
