Great surfacing bit
As someone just getting into some wood working it can be overwhelming to think about the different tools and equipment you need to do things. I can't buy rough milled lumber and save money because I don't gave a planer. A good piece of advice is buy things like router bits as you need them and don't get the cheapest thing. This surfacing bit is large enough to cut down on time, well made to do a pretty clean job, and thoughtful enough to be able to rotate the cutting blades for extended life. My first few times using this have been excellent. It cuts clean, smooth and flat lines allowing me to get the job done that a planer and joiner could do. Yes, those other tools would be faster but since I already have a router, a simple sled allowed me to get 2 flat surfaces that needed nothing more than finish sanding. I've used this to reduce thickness of boards and take out some errant marks made from milling. Extra screws are nice especially because they're likely a specific size to hold the cutting blades. The 1/2" shank keeps everything secure and tends to heat up less than 1/4" This should be good for all wood types and I'm sure it will work for soft metals like aluminum or brass without destroying the blades. I am very happy with the purchase.

Quality Product for Surface Planning
Works really Great. I surface planed (8) 3' x 5' panels made from Douglas fir with no issues. I purchased this one because of the extra metal supporting each cutter. Ran the bit at 14500 rpm with no oscillation. None of the carbide inserts came loose and they show very little signs of wear. One of the things that would have made this even better is if they added a few extra carbide inserts just encase one was damaged or came off; to go along with the screws that were included.

Excellent Customer Service
I purchased this 1 1/2 inch spoil board surfacing bit out of curiosity, knowing 1/4 shaft may be a little small to sling that big of bit. I run a trim router on my CNC and so not high performance to start. The bit I got cut nicely in knotty alder but had a lot of vibration and was extremely loud. I reached out to the company asking a few questions and they replied back almost instantly. We exchanged question and answers and prior to me asking or them telling me I got notification they had refunded my money. I wondered if there was a factory issue and would gladly taken a replacement. I ended up taking the refund and purchasing a second identical bit to give it another try. I now know my trim router was most of the issue and contacted them again to let them know what I found and their first bit was fine, offering to pay for it because of the refund. They denied payment, thanked me for the update and hoped I continue to buy from them. Customer service like that now days is unheard of in my experience and this company has secured my business as long as I can use the consumables they offer. Thank you for being good to your customers.

A Flattening BEAST
Built a gian 22x22x6" chopping block made of white oak, and needed a way to flatten it. It was too tall for my CNC, so I used a router sled and this chonk of a flattening bit. Having flattened on a CNC with a wee 1/2" bit, I started this taking a tiny amount and overlapping by half. After a few minutes, I noticed I was getting dust, not chips. Rather than size the board in tiny steps, I lowered the bit a couple of mm to try again. I was paying attention to make sure the router didn't get bogged down, the board didn't move, and that my lines looked clean. This thing just CHEWED through the endgrain and left me with a super flat surface with no burnout whatsoever. Sanding from this point was so easy with such a smooth surface. If you're on the fence, get off the fence and buy the thing. It's a chonk, seems like it's a great quality, and the price is right as well.

Lots of chatter!
I will be honest, this was my first wood cutting bits with inserts. I thought it would be more economical as the Chinese surfacing bits with brazed carbide cutting tips didn't last long when cutting hard woods but now I am not so sure. I thought I'd take light cuts (.25 mm) to get the feel of the new bit but the tool chattered and gouged the workpiece. I thought maybe I needed to take deeper cuts so I tried taking a 1 mm cut on a piece of dark cherry. Not but a few minutes into the cut on my 3018 CNC router the tool chattered so bad it knocked my dust boot off, shattering it and sending pieces sailing across the room. Since losing my dust boot I have not used my router or this bit so I can't say much other than I wished I'd purchased a half dozen 1 inch surfacing bits from China instead of this bit with interchangeable inserts. Bad thing was I bought a box of inserts when I bought the bit. If I happen to find out I was not using his bit correctly in will update this review. As a retired machinist I am very familiar with metal cutters with replaceable inserts and thought I wouldn't have any problems. I ran the tool at high rpm and a low feed rate, maybe someone can tell me if I am doing something wrong? After upgrading to an 800w spindle motor the but no longer chatters and leaves a good surface finish so I raised my review from 3 to 5 stars.

Awesome Awesome Awesome bit
Awesome little bit. I bought this to flatten a 98"x25" black walnut slab. I paired with a market place Ryobi router and cheap plastic sled. Worked great, even when taking off 1/4" at a time!

This bit can cut
So I bought this to level some slabs... as most of you looking at this bit will do. I am super impressed. Yes, its a Chinese made bit... but with the ability to change out the carbide blades it is going to be a tool I use a lot. I just did a 24" x 18" cookie in about 10 minutes. Both sides and took about 1/2" off either side. It cut like butter... even the tiny little pieces I thought for sure it was going to snap off from the center of the piece. Make sure you are using a strong router as this thing is big and can really hog out some material. I was curious how much it would take... so I cut a 1/4" deep cut the full width of the blade and it didn't hesitate at all. Cutting on some black locust end grain. I would definitely purchase again and recommend to a friend. Looks like I gotta get some more blades for it ... cause I'm super excited to get my slabs leveled out now. (FYI... the blades are still plenty sharp after doing both sides of the cookie.

Quality bit.
Great product, comes with protective glue on the bit to protect it from rust etc. so you donโt need to use it straight away. Very sharp and has proven itself to be a quality item. I would buy again.

Very nice cut
I purchased this to flatten large wood slabs with my hand held router(DeWalt 2.25hp) - it is working well so far. I've leveled/flattened 2 24 inch by 16 inch slabs. Zero issues, and a quality cut line. I'm very happy with this product (again, so far). Will update if any issues arise.
