The Foursevens Preon P2 MKIII is a brighter every day carry LED flashlight with a convenient clip for pockets and belts. The third generation Black P2 delivers bright light with superior color reproduction in a compact and convenient form factor. How does the P2 differ from the P1 flashlight? Twice as many lumens (210!) with the same high CRI (92+) in a longer body. Get more bang for your buck! The P2 enables you to see clearly with a high color rendering LED. Cheap lights distort your subject with high lumens and a low color spectrum. Our innovative flashlights are engineered to provide you with bright light that is nearly as accurate as the noon sun. The Preon P2 has six configurable modes for all your needs. Config. 1: High - (Burst 100%) Config. 2: Max (100%) - Strobe Config. 3: Medium - High - (Burst) Config. 4: Low - Medium - High - (Burst) Config. 5: High - Medium - Low - (Burst) Config. 6: Low - Med - High - Strobe - SOS - Beacon - (Burst) Brightness Levels Low: 1 lumen / 90 hours Medium: 30 lumens / 5 hours High: 125 lumens / 1.1 hours Max: 210 lumens / 1 hour Burst: 210 lumens / 1 hour BURST MODE: This feature allows you to access maximum output at any time without scrolling through other modes. You can get maximum output when you need it, but conserve battery life by using the standard high mode for normal use. Burst mode is activated with two fast off/on cycles. Burst is active for 30 seconds and then ramps down to high mode over the following 30 seconds. This prevents the light from overheating and damaging the internal components. BATTERY TYPE: USE AAA Lithium (disposable) or NiMH (rechargeable). We recommend ENELOOP or GP ReCyko+ rechargeables. DO NOT USE LITHIUM ION OR ALKALINE BATTERIES. The Gold Standard for anyone who depends on clear vision and superior light.

Perfect medical light
As a nursing student, I fumbled around for a semester with a AAA Mini Maglite; while I liked the incandescent color temperature, I despised everything else about it - from the poor pocket clip that was always coming loose, to the poor on/off control of a twist head, to only having one illumination level. After seeing a friend with her older Preon, I knew I needed to check this one out. After trying it out, I can't come up with any complaints for this light in a medical setting (once the programming is set for a low-med-high configuration). The color temperature is accurate, the 1 lumen setting is perfect for pupil checks, and the medium setting is great for wound assessment in bright rooms. The click switch cap feels good to use, and instills confidence that it won't automatically engage. The pocket clip stays planted in my scrubs.Hopefully this will be a companion to my Seiko 007 and Littman Cardiology IV for many more years to come!

5th flashlight from four sevens, great lights
Works great. I own several foursevens flashlights. They get dunked in water, oil, mud, etc, they go everywhere I go and I have never had a problem with water resistance. This preon 2 mkiii has a great clip much stronger than my original preon 2. I am only buying another because I lost my original. My other quark pro I also carry every day and works flawlessly. The clicky interphase and quality of the button on this new mkiii is improved and works well. I do lube the orings and put a tiny bit of anti seize on the threads which keeps them working well. Very happy with this new light.I am a RN and use a preon 2 at work for pupil assessments as well as other times i need a light on night shift. The light quality and lumens are great for this.I also carry one EDC and use it when I am working on our car, truck, house, on my bike rides, etc. I use to be a mechanic and welder/fabricator and still do these things on the side at home and the preon 2 has been great when working in the attic or under the house or in other projects outside as it gets late.

Excellent light, but initial setup is a pain
Good: Beautifully machined, the tail-switch gives enough resistance to avoid the light turning on accidentally (which I've read was an issue on earlier Preon models), it has a momentary on function by half-pressing the tail-switch, switching brightness settings is painless because you can do it with a half-press rather than having to keep clicking it on and off, the light is plenty bright, run times are good for a AAA light, tons of options in terms of programmable modes, rechargeable batteries included.Great: A penlight with good mode memory. There are so few good penlights out there these days and even fewer that don't start in low by default. The fact that the Preon has a working mode memory is my favorite thing about it.Bad: Comes with rechargeable AAA batteries but no charger for the batteries. You have to buy one separately. It's also a little on the pricey side for a AAA penlight. I can understand why with the intricate machining and the programmable modes, but it's still pretty up there.Ugly: Getting to the mode you want is a nightmare. You half press 9 times, full press the 10th, count the number of times it flashes to figure out which mode it's currently in, check the instructions to figure out which mode you want it in, and then click the light on and off until you reach that mode. It's not the most straight-forward process and surely it could have been done better than that. But it is a one time headache for the most part and the light is fantastic once you finally get it into the mode you want.Overall I strongly recommend the light if you're looking for that penlight form factor and are okay with the price, just be prepared for the initial brief headache getting it set up.

Fantastic EDC light
I got this flashlight to replace my trusty Streamlight Stylus Pro which I carried for years. The Preon P2 MKIII now goes with me everywhere I go. The various mode settings seemed a bit confusing at first, but are soon easily learnt. The light is bright, compact, and has a useful mode for every need. The battery life is good so far. I'm not yet able to speak about the durability as I have only had it for about a month and it hasn't had any harsh encounters as yet, it's only been though the basic motions. It's now my official every day carry light.

Nice
I work in the automotive industry. This is a super snazzy quality light for looking into the dark recesses of vehicles. I got the copper and it looks and feels really great. Really dig the ergonomics and the clip. Also you can see it if you drop it in an engine bay, which I have done. I feel like this thing will last forever as long as I dont lose it. Worth the price for me.
