BCP62 6.2 Inch CarPlay Car Stereo, No Android or DVD

Firstly I know Boss gets a lot of hate but I’ve had this unit for about 9 months so far and have had practically Zero issues with it. I put it in a 2004 impala with some upgraded speakers. Recoil MP65s in the doors, and Boss elite 6x9s in the deck. They weren’t crazy loud but they sounded much better than the blown out stock speakers that were in the car. But this headunit really began to shine once I added an amp. I hooked up a Recoil 1800 5 channel amp, this powers my doors, my deck, and a single 15 inch in a sealed box in the trunk. This head unit honestly sounds on par with the pioneer I ran in my G6 and for a fraction of the cost. It has honestly been some of the best bang for the buck. I love this head unit and I originally bought it because it was cheap and I needed to replace an old factory stereo on a budget. But I ended up liking it enough to build my sound system with it at the center and I think it honestly turned out quite good. I would absolutely recommend buying one of these if you are interested in it!

It took 5 ties with different stereo heads to find a unit that fit in my 2003 Ford Excursion double DIN location. A trim set from Scosche made the finishing touches look great. This Boss BCP62 sounds great especially when you add a subwoofer to the interior of your vehicle. The sound is great and Apple Play is connection is flawless to my iPhone 13. You do need to install a USB connector in your dash [i used a lighter plug location adapter to USB] which fit perfectly as the Apple Play needs a solid wire connection. Since it also charges the phone while connected, this is a win-win as far as I'm concerned. The rear [backup] and front camera feature along with subwoofer inputs really fit my needs as well as the phone mic for hands free operation. Very good quality and a very reasonable price. The only thing I wish it had as a CD/DVD player but it does have the USB for a flash drive hookup in the front of the unit. Screen quality was excellent as well as the stereo sound.

This has been a fantastic upgrade for my aging Toyota Camry (2004). I can now use Apple Car Play (note: wired only) to use maps like a 21st-century driver right on my dash, listen to my podcasts through the car speakers, and talk to Siri. Nice! For the money, this unit does everything it should and is a great value. It even came with an external corded microphone that you can stick onto your dash somewhere for communication with Siri. I put it right next to my instrument display and it works super well. I knock a star off because the screen feels maybe a little lower-res than I was expecting, and sometimes the graphics even look a little "jpeggy," as though they were compressed on the way from the phone to the device. It's most obvious in icons that have large expanses of one color. If this were a nicer car and I were picky about that, I might consider shelling out a little more for a better display and wireless CarPlay. But for my drive-into-the-mountains hiking/adventure car, it is absolutely adequate and does everything I needed for a fair price. Some things I learned after my purchase that I wish I had known ahead of time: - I needed to buy a wiring harness to connect it to my car's wiring and a bezel to make it look correct in the dashboard, but these were both available on Amazon and the manufacturer helped me pick the right ones. (For me, it was Metra 70-1761 and Metra 99-8231 respectively, just as reference for what kind of additional parts you would likely need.) - You'll need some way to connect the bare wire ends on the radio to the wiring harness, such a crimp kit. I bought some heat-activated self-soldering connectors at a local electronics store and they worked great. - The CarPlay connectivity is WIRED ONLY, and the connection is to the BACK of the unit, so you'll need to route the wire through the dashboard to where you want to use it. This was my first time doing anything like that and there was a slight learning curve, but YouTube helped and but it was not nearly as bad as I thought. The dashboard on my Toyota Camry was designed to come apart remarkably easily and I was able to route the USB cable to a convenient location at the front of my center console. (Obviously, every car is different, so your mileage may vary.) - Same deal for the microphone. It connects at the BACK of the unit. I routed the cord out at the side of my center air vents and attached it to the dash right there with the provided double-sided tape. It definitely doesn't look factory-installed, but it does look organized and is very functional there. Long story short: If you're installing this yourself, this is not a quick swap-it-out replacement. You'll need to budget an afternoon and you might need some extra tools for the wiring. But it's also not that hard once you understand what you need to do, and once you've done it one time, you'll be much more confident if you ever need to do it again.

I got this to replace a Kenwood receiver that lasted almost 20 years. I was pretty excited to finally upgrade to something with Bluetooth and CarPlay compatibility. Up until now, I had been using an original iPod video with a USB connection. The installation was straightforward if you have basic electrical knowledge—just match the colored cables and crimp or solder them. I was able to use the brackets that came with the unit for the installation. While they weren’t the best fit or the most adjustable, they got the job done. The user interface is intuitive, and it didn’t take long to connect my phone, adjust the equalizer settings, and start playing music. Hopefully, this one lasts 20 years like my old Kenwood.

I don’t often leave reviews, but I’m impressed enough with this head unit that I felt I needed to. I have had this unit installed for over a month now and it has been fantastic. I have had zero problems with it, it works and sounds great. I cannot think of anything negative about it. Everything works like it should, Bluetooth connects and works good. Apple CarPlay is flawless. The touchscreen works great and is very responsive. Very very nice head unit. You won’t be disappointed!

Wow wow this radio was a present for my daughters first car going to college she loves it.The great thing for me is that i feel happy knowing she doesnt have to look for her phone everytime somebody calls the screen shows all the information needed and handsfree crystal clear calls.I highly recommend less chance of a car crash looking for phones it makes old cars feel like a modern 2025 car.

I really wanted this unit to work for adding CarPlay and Bluetooth to an older vehicle. But after purchasing three from two different vendors and returning all of them, I gave up. I am not a car audio professional, but I am an electronics engineer and have been toying with car and home audio most of the past 30 years. First let’s start with the pros: Nice quality screen, easy, ergonomic functionality, and intuitive to use. Physical volume knob (hard to find) Front and rear camera (optional add-ons, I didn’t evaluate). Wired Apple Carplay works well. Very responsive. I had no issues with it connecting and staying connected. This unit does not support Wireless Apple Carplay. Front USB connection does not offer CarPlay, must use the rear USB dongle and connect a Lightning cable to it and fish out the front of your dash. Not a big deal I have a cable hanging in a car all the time anyway. Bluetooth paired and worked well with my iPhone 10. Screen resolution and touch sensitivity performs well. Plentiful pre-tapped mounting holes in various configurations allowed my existing side brackets to make a perfect fit in my 2000 4Runner. Front bezel fit perfectly in the dash. FM tuning and pre-sets work great. I had no problems with the functionality like other reviews. Has 3-year warranty, and from talking with their support, I don’t think you would have an issue with a warranty claim. They were fast to answer, and really wanted to help. Now the Cons: Built-in 4-channel amplifier is severely underpowered. I think my clock radio in my bedroom has more power than this thing. Boss states on their web site this has a 320W amplifier (80Wx 4 channels). This is total baloney. I opened it up and took a look at the numbers on the amplifier chip: TDA7388 made by STMicroelectronics. Their data sheet shows this as a 4 channel x 26 Watt @ 14.4 V, 1 kHz, 10 % Class AB Amplifier. The distortion (THD) graph shows 10% at 11W (this is why is distorts the sound as you turn the volume up to 50% level). To overcome road noise and actually hear music it needs to be 40% to 50% and then the sound unbearably distorts. I was so disappointed in this. For the price I was willing to get over this and manually wire the RCA pre-amp outputs into a 4-channel 25W/channel external amp (even with this little wattage the sound was like night and day compared to the internal amp). But when the pre-amp outputs were used, there was a constant hissing noise on the outputs. I tried three different units, all had the same problem. Even with nothing connected the noise showed on my o-scope. Boss has US based support, and they seem to stand behind their products, but they could offer no explanation. All they could offer was a RMA replacement on the units. Because I was in the 30-day Amazon return period, I didn’t want to risk a full refund. I don’t know why the unit is 6.3” deep. It is literally hollow inside and the whole thing weights 27 oz. Some of the good reviews on Amazon and Crutchfield blow my mind. These buyers must really have replaced sucky factory units. My Toyota factory unit this was to replace is not “premium” by any measure, but had decent quality sound. Even though the features and operation of this Boss unit were nice, I am buying it to hear it not to watch it. I still can't get over how bad it sounded so I can't give it more than one star. I ended up purchasing a ATOTO A6G2A7PF due to another posted review and could no be happier with it, in fact it blew me away for the price point (and it has wireless CarPlay).

First off, it's cheap and it has CarPlay. That's really all I was looking for. When it works it gets the job done just fine. I specifically wanted a unit that had a volume knob, not buttons or stupid touch controls or something like that. This fit the bill. I also installed a backup camera, and it also works fine. Install was as easy as any other stereo replacement I've ever done. However the first day of use my wife told me that a couple times during her drive the CarPlay disconnected randomly then reconnected quickly. I assumed it was a cable issue, so we swapped cables, but unfortunately it didn't fix the problem. Some days it works fine without any issues, and some days it disconnects many times. I've tried reaching out to Boss support to get their take on things, but whoever I was in contact with clearly had no idea what they were talking about and just sent back some canned, pre-written general troubleshooting stuff. I thought about sending it back but the thought of pulling the whole dash apart, disconnecting everything and packing and shipping it back didn't sound fun, so it's remained in my wife's truck and probably will stay there till we sell the thing. Also, there are some of these units that I've seen that allow for a custom splash screen on startup. I haven't found a way to do that with this unit - I would have loved to replace the Boss splash screen with one for the brand of truck my wife drives. That would have given this thing bonus points but alas, it's not the case.
