Good bandages for pressure sores

Arrived on time and was the right product.

My younger sister has cerebral palsy & was in the ICU for 2 weeks last May. During that time she developed 2 bedsores that have slowly progressed. We took her to a wound care specialist who recommended using menstrual pads over her dressing to cushion the area. Although this helped alleviate her discomfort, the pads soaked up her urine (she wears diapers) and caused further skin breakdown. I found these dressings just in time. They have a small pad to give her a little extra cushion over her tailbone AND completely seal on her skin prevent urine and feces from getting in her wound. The adhesive is also extremely gentle, not ripping her skin when removed, but also long lasting to the point that if the dressing isn't soiled - it can actually be reused once or twice - as my parents & I try to change her dressings at least twice if not three times a Day. Downsides - only 10 come in a box and they are very expensive at about $9/dressing but we have no choice but to pay it to ensure her wounds heal appropriately.

But the only ones that work for my mom's stage 1 pressure soar, so I don't think we can really put a "value for the money" lower than 4 stars. I spent a TON of money on all the other brands costing from $7 to $10 for each dressing and they all irritated the already irritated, inflamed skin. THIS one is the only one that does not irritate the skin, and in fact, promotes healing!! I haven't seen her soar in this good of shape for months! Also, all we use now is a little barrier cream, thin stream, around the bottom of the dressing. Before, we were putting all kinds of stuff, ointments, barrier creams, etc., and that made her soar worse, causing me to go through a couple, or more, dressings in a day! The key to success with these dressings is to make full contact with the skin, as a second skin. Duh, I should have read the instructions first! Novel idea! I would have saved a couple hundred dollars!!! Live and learn. But again, the adhesive on these does not irritate her skin.... finally something that works! YAY!
