Q: Are you supposed to attach your speakers to the stands with screws?

You don't need to drill holes into your speakers as the speaker stands have adjustable clamps to lock the speakers in place. They also come with rubber pads that attach to the stand's speaker clamps. For extra security, you could replace the rubber pads with velcro strips.

Q: is it a pair for 39.99 or just one?

It is a pair (2), they are great. I love mine.

Q: What are the dimensions of the rubber feet so that they can be replaced by carpet spikes?

No prblem replacing them. I am going to do the same thing. You will need the stability if your speakers are more than a couple of lbs a piece.

Q: could these work for Klipsch RS-42 Surround Speakers? ...Thank you!

No anything over 11-1/2'' are too big
