The Story of a Lifetime: A Keepsake of Personal Memoirs

I gave this to my husband for his birthday. He decided after a quick glance that he didn't like the format so I decided to write the story of my lifetime. I have been writing nonstop for days because once you read a question and start writing, the memories start flowing. I just can't write fast enough to keep up with all the memories that are pouring out of my brain. I think my kids and grandkids will treasure this book. I've tried to make it funny and let's face it a lot of life is funny. My biggest suggestion is to get lots of Pilot Fri Xion clicker erasabe pens $4.88 for a 3 count on Amazon turn Amazon. When you're trying to write as fast as your brain is thinking you will see a lot of mistakes when you go back and edit and these pens are a lifesaver.

I gave a similar book to my father in the ‘80s, and after he died nearly 30 years later we found it in his library. Reading it was very much a learning experience about the man who raised me and who I thought I knew pretty well as his son. This book goes even deeper into the life of the “author” to really explore the issues of being who you are, from childhood to retirement and from friendships to God. I gave a copy of this book to all my brothers and their wives to facilitate their history to their children, grandchildren, and great grand children.

Awesome Book! Thanks to the wonderful truthful reviews I read with all the Memoir books which are available here on Amazon, I chose this book, purchasing two; one for myself and the other for my ex-mother-in-law who I love her dearly, she's been my "Mom" and son's only Grandmother for nearly 4 decades now. When I phoned her to let her know that I was sending her this book and explained why and explained how great it would be for her to start writing in it, she couldn't quite understand what it was and didn't have much enthusiasm as I hopped she would have.What a pleasant surprise when she phoned me Sat. and said so excitedly "it's been delivered!" She was truly thrilled with the entire book, thought it was beautiful and she thought the questions it asked inside was really great, she was really excited! Mom told me she could have used it about 20 years ago, but she was going to get started as soon as she read through all the beautiful poems and thoughts within its pages. I received mine this morning and I'm just as excited! Seeing in hand I'm glad that I got myself one at 55; I wish I would have had this book at least 30 years ago.

My dad loved getting this for his birthday, even though he is a fact/intellectual kinda guy. It is filled with questions about all areas of your life. I know it seems expensive, but it's such a nice hardbound cover and I think well worth it. If a loved one has wanted to ever write an autobiography, this is a great way to prompt and inspire them. It's true: there are a lot of emotionally based questions. Here's the thing - at the end of the day, our life experience is about our relationships and our response to life. What brought you joy, fulfillment, trials and challenges you moved through, love and gratitude, deep heart-felt service, connection? A life review does make you dig deep, and if you're looking for just the facts, there might be a better choice in book than this one.

Great book, thorough, handsome, quality. The seller stated clearly that there were a couple cosmetic flaws due to being on the shelf and they were right. I really appreciated their honesty!The book is heavy with beautiful cream colored pages . The edges of the pages, on the outside, are a golden bronze color. The pages are a flat or matt (not glossy) type of paper which is less likely to smear and smudge. Most of the questions have ample space to write the answer if you have small to medium handwriting. If you have large or loopy type of handwriting it may not be enough. I love the fact that this book has a Table of Context in the front! There is a section in the back that have (blank) lined pages that you can add to. I wish the authors would have added these to each individual section though instead of just the back. This is a large book, something that will look pretty wherever you store it (like a bookshelf or coffee table). The only problem I had with this particular copy was that it smelled like formaldehyde. I think it was the type of plastic it had been wrapped in.

This book is wonderful. I first purchased it about 10 years ago. I was taking care of my Mother-in-law when she broke her arm. I bought this book and told her it was to be a Christmas gift from her, and from me, for her son. And that I wanted to fill it out for her. Each night for that 7 weeks we filled out pages as we watched TV at night.It gave me far more insight into her way of life growing up and her way of thinking because of it.Now she is gone, but the book is a wonderful legacy for her family.Just ordered another of these for me to fill out for my children. They become a wonderful history of the person or persons who fill it out. Was going to use 2 different colored inks to fill one out for my husband and I.It becomes a real treasure to your family to read.

I purchased this after reading a post by a blogger who had purchased one for her grandmother. I wish I'd known about that while my grandparents were still living! I think it's well organized with a list of sections in the front and additional, blank pages in the back. The book is hardback, with gold-edged pages. I recently purchased one for me to use for my daughter (and hopefully subsequent children), but will only be filling out the first section, as I'm too young for the rest to be applicable yet.I plan to purchase others for both my husband's and my parents to hopefully fill out for their children and grandchildren.It asks a lot of really great questions that help paint a picture of family ancestors, and family members who are just a generation or two beyond our own memories.Essentially, it's a family history book with some personal journaling thrown it.Wonderful and certainly worth the purchase!

Thrilled with this book, although some questions were aimed at the American market, I found I could quite easily change the questions to relate to British culture, the cover was elegantly bound and the questions covered many aspects of someone's life. A perfect gift, or as a personal keepsake to hand down to future generations .
