Q: Will these work with the late December 2020 firmware update for HP 7740?

Q: We put the black cartridge in our printer and it won’t print because it is saying that it does not recognize the chip and now it won’t print at all

This could be the result of 2 things. 1st, of course, is to ask the manufacturer to replace the cartridge due to it's being defective. The 2nd, is that when you set up your printer, if you inadvertently elected one of the options that locks you into using HP only cartridges, your printer will never recognize a non-HP cartridge. I'm not sure how to check this other than to call HP support & have them investigate this option. Don't tell them you want help with utilizing a non-HP cartridge, because they absolutely will not do that. BUT, I would think they could tell you if you have that is option selected on your machine. Frankly, I, personally, have given away a printer where this option was chosen & bought a new one. For the last 4 HP printers I've installed for myself & friends, I make sure to NEVER select any option related to "free" ink, etc. GOOD LUCK!!
