Where is it manufactured?

We have found on Jarrow's website that their products are manufactured in the United States.

Are these capsules you can take apart and get to the powder? So if I wanted 500 mg in a smoothie I could open the capsule and use 1/2 the powder?

Yes, the capsules come apart fairly easy.Just twist and pull apart slowly.

This is animal based. The body itself synthesizes taurine. "This taurine is synthesized in the pancreas via the cysteine sulfonic acid pathway, known as biosynthesis of taurine." Taurine is naturally found in muscle tissue, but is also SYNTHESIZED in the pancreas, and this is still animal based. Taurine is not vegan, there are no vegan sources of taurine. However, as a vegan you can synthesize your own taurine. "Vegans should eat complete protein foods such as soy, hemp seed, quinoa, buckwheat, amaranth regularly to ensure you are able to synthesize taurine from amino acids found in these foods."
