What is the prep work?

I just cleaned up the previous paint applications. Cleaned the door. I has 3 coats on it now but after a winter of wear it needs another which is fine. It has survived winter much better than red acrylic enamel. My door faces due east so it gets all the sun you can imagine.

How much paint do I need for the exterior of my front door and 6 shutters?

I painted 4 door and still have 1/2 a quart left. I had bought 2 quarts thinking I would need that much. I did 3 coats on each door....just because I have the paint, not because it didn't cover good.

Does anyone know what behr red is the closest to the sophisticated red here?

You can use paint match to get close. Behr is at Home Depot, so I would either take it to there, or you can use their paint match app. The only problem is going to be is getting the exact same color match. Hope that is helpful

Do I need to use a primer before using this on a front door?

I didn't.....my door was faded.. I just washed it with soap and water sanded where needed and painted,. I just love the color and brightness on my front door.....get lots of compliments .changed the look of my house. I did do 2 coats and then touched up.
