Half too much for my 11lb cat
Idiot neighbor shot off fireworks (over a month early) at 7:30 am on a Sunday right under her favorite squirrel highway windows, cat terrified of fireworks anyway and these were just outside! He got an earfull. Ordered these since she was still traumatized & skiddish days after. It's been two weeks and she still won't go to her beloved windows. Heartbreaking. I gave her half a chew and it made her very spaced. A quarter chew didn't seem to do anything. Tried a third of one, it mellowed her without her seeming doped up. She doesn't like being out of it and refused the paste we had used last year for July 4th. The fish shape of these makes it difficult to break in thirds but it doesn't crumble and she LOVES the taste. I make sure she can't access the package or she would eat them all and that would be very bad situation. Excellent product, great calming tool. I suggest starting out with half to see how they affect your kitty.

My cat won't eat them alone/Not very effective
I have an EXTREMELY hyperactive cat, and was very hopeful that these would allow me to get some sleep (think zoomies routinely at 3am, sometimes lasting for 2+ hours). I'm working remotely and my son is doing Distance Learning, so even in the daytime, it is quite distracting. Our fur baby is still fairly new to our home, as we just adopted him less than two months ago, but we struggle to find the time to give him the attention he needs during the day, and I think it goes without saying that zoomies in the middle of the night are stressful. We're talking slamming into walls, knocking things over, jumping, falling...I'm constantly worried that he will get hurt. So I had very high hopes that these would help to calm him, but unfortunately the results were minimal, at best. They seemed to help briefly after the first time, but after that, little to no effect. He also hates the taste (and this is a cat who eats every other kind of food and treats given, and we've tried a wide variety), but I was able to easily crumble them into his favorite wet foods. I was just hoping for convenience in a treat combined with results, but unfortunately that isn't the case with these so far. I might try 3 (I've only tried up to 2 at a time so far), but I'm not sure if that is excessive. He's very young so I don't want to overdo it. I think these might work for mild behavioral issues/mild anxiety, but for our wild and furry child, it's back to the drawing board. Admittedly we're still waiting for the next vet appointment (the vet hospital where we adopted him was very unhelpful, to say the least), but I plan to discuss any potential health concerns at his new vet when we visit. I've read that sometimes extreme behaviors like the ones he sometimes expresses can have underlying causes, such as thyroid issues. In the meantime, I'm hoping for a little peace and calm -- especially when we're busy, and extra especially at bedtime. 😽 I plan to try the calming treats with melatonin next (wish us luck with those).

We WERE pretty happy with this
Update - July 27, 2023 Until recently, my cat has eagerly eaten 1 of these treats before bedtime for an entire year. I don’t know if they changed the recipe or made a bad batch, but he will not eat from the most recent package I bought - and I bought 2 bags in June. I thought about trying the treats from the other bag, but they both have the same lot number. My current plan is to see if Petco has these with a different lot #. Will buy a package to try if they do. Might try contacting Pet Naturals as well. I called these my cat’s chill pill, because he would not be as annoying to me or his sister after taking. The lot number on the package he won’t eat is - 541202001 0325 Original review - about June 2022 You will need to figure out how this best works for your situation. We have 2 sibling cats, age 5. The boy annoys the girl frequently. She growls when he gets near. When he goes after her and they run and tussle, she screams. There is never blood, but we'd prefer not to deal with this. I originally gave both cats a calming treat around 5 p.m. with dinner. The treats are kinda large so I just break them in half. They both really liked them and I could tell they made both cats pretty mellow fairly quickly. We went through one whole bag and then I was feeling like the effects were not lasting very long. We were having some blow-ups -- lots of screaming -- around midnight. I decided to skip giving our female a calming treat, because if her brother wouldn't annoy her she'd be fine. AND I switched the timing on the treat. I'm now giving him the calming treat right before I get in bed (and I give her a regular cat treat so she doesn't feel cheated). For us, that seems to be very helpful. There are occasional blow-ups here and there but no more at night. (Except the one night I forgot to give the treat. Ay yi y!!!) I don't know if our girl cat is more sensitive because she's a calico. For now, I plan to continue with these treats for our boy cat at our bedtime.

Worked well first couple of times then no effect.
This is a great product! Fed one today to my kitty-kat, after sniffing really well he gobbled it right up, 30 minutes after eating he was so mellow. I have had nothing but a clash of the titans w/him ea & EVERY time I wanted to check something on his body like areas he scratches a lot, a small lump on his back, claws...I mean anything where he would be held against his will, he would fight me like a little hellion! Sweet cat but just doesn't like being held against his will. His claws were really in need of trimming & I have been putting it off, dreading it so much, but 30 min after eating he mellowed out, I put him in a little kitty restraint sack w/o much of a problem & voila! I pulled his front legs out & he did not fight me at all while trimming even tho he knew I was quite nervous about doing it. Afterwards I untied the sack, pulled him out & he didn't run off in a flash like he usually does but stayed in one spot while I petted him & praised him profusely. I can't say enough about the efficacy of these natural "kitty downers," lol. Update: on the third time using them I gave him 2 but this time it hardly affected him. I normally use these then after taking effect I'll put him in a little kitty strait-jacket of sorts (bought on Amazon) this time I was cleaning his ears & trimming claws, he soon started freaking out, like a little mad-man, getting more & more upset til I had to release him as he was going to tear the thing apart or hurt himself. After releasing him he had gotten so freaked he shat on himself, scary & upsetting to both of us! Maybe next time I'll try 3 I suppose.

Honestly, my personal quality of life is improved by these treats.
Heads up: This is a long review. I'm really in love with this product, so I spent a lot of time writing up my situation but in case you're in a hurry... TL;DR: My boyfriend's cat is evil. After the treats, she's measurably less evil. My anxiety levels have returned to normal. ----------------- I bought these for my boyfriend's half-feral cat, Ashe, because she's frequently aggressive by normal cat standards. By half feral, I mean that one of her parents was domesticated and the other was feral. Before the treats, Ashe was really uneasy, aggressive, moody, and didn't like to be pet. She'd come up to the arm of my chair and claw at me, or when I was walking across the living room, she'd run up to me in the threatening manner, etc. She did some stuff to my boyfriend as well, biting him very deeply after we THINK he might have rolled his chair back onto her paw (we're uncertain if that actually happened, just a theory to try to explain why she's such a freakin' demon cat.) She caused me a lot of anxiety because she was so an edge all the time; it made me incredibly unhappy to be at my boyfriend's apartment. You see now why I wanted to get the treats. Anyway, I'd read of the reviews that said their cats turn their nose up at the treats, but for me, it was worth it to risk the $5 to see if she improved. I'm so glad I did. Ashe LOVES them. If she sees that you have the bag, she begins drooling. Not only that, but she actually seems happier. She's less aggressive overall, enjoys being pet a little more, and she can sit down now and just chill...like a normal cat. This drastically improved my personal well being because I wasn't stressed to the max all the time having to be around this tiny demon (a term that has now turned a little more affectionate than before). To be clear, the treats aren't totally behavior correcting, but I never expected it to be. Even my boyfriend who was open, but skeptical, to the idea of the treats noticed and appreciates the positive change in her demeanor. Ashe has become more of a loving cat to whatever extent her evil little mind can muster, which honestly is way better than living in constant fear living with his damn cat.

Duplicate product - worked for only one cat
I'm writing this review for two separate products because these two products are identical - they're just packaged differently and sold as separate products. (this exact listing will be copied and pasted to the other product's review) I bought the Pet Naturals brand (#1 in pictures) on 1/13 based on the high reviews. Cat "T" would eat them but cat "S" would not. S sniffed and licked the treat a bit then walked away. One thing I noticed right out of the pack was the smell... it was a bit harsh. So, I looked for something else that would suit S. I purchased the VETRISCIENCE brand (#2 in pictures) on 2/07 based on the reviews, and it was listed as chicken flavored. S likes chicken. When I received the VETRISCIENCE and opened the pack, I realized it was exactly the same as the Pet Naturals I purchased earlier. S would not eat this treat either... didn't even bother licking it. Attached pictures: you can see the list of ingredients are the same with Pet Naturals having only slightly less values than VETRISCIENCE, but the size, color, and structure of the two treats are identical (and smell). However, the telling part is the statement regarding the Colostrum Calming Complex (R). Review is 2 stars for both products because only one cat ate them, and because the two products are identical yet sold under different packages and names. One product is only partially useful for me - the second product was a complete waste of money because it's exactly the same as the other. Be warned: if you've tried one of these products and it didn't work, don't bother trying to the other. Better yet, pay careful attention when purchasing ANY product - check the ingredients, look for any tell-tale signs that it's the same product you already have but in a different package. I'm sure numerous companies do this, and it's probably not illegal. However, it's frustrating and can get expensive when you're trying to solve a problem.

Has helped a very tense cat!
A friend of mine adopted a cat about a year or so ago. This poor kitty looked to have come from a pretty dire situation. It was a purebred cat that had obviously been used as part of a breeding mill. She was extremely frightened of nearly everyone and everything. She didn't even know how to play with toys and would only chase her tail, a sign that she spent much of her time cooped up in a cage. (She now knows how to play with toys!) My friend, who has had a lot of experience with various cats, wasn't even initially able to pet her. Over time she's opened up and can be pet, but even now you have to be careful with how you pet her or she will freak out. Picking her up isn't even an option, which makes any sort of medical or preventative care truly difficult. Now while my friend has been helping this beautiful cat adapt to a normal, loving household, the cat still has issues with stress and anxiety. She will often over-groom, leading to scabs and bald patches in her coat. Fleas have contributed to this some, but the main issue with her has been and still is anxiety and stress. We have some calming diffusers and those have helped, but more was needed. I got these just under a week ago and they've made a marked difference, particularly when paired with the Bayer II flea treatment. There's a marked improvement in her coat and demeanor, plus she's easier to approach. She doesn't really even react as much when you pass by her, something that's really nice as cats should be able to fully relax in their homes. I can't vouch for the taste myself, obviously, but I can say that the cat absolutely loves them. My friend has another cat that doesn't need these, but also loves how they taste so he has to be kept away or he'll try to figure out ways to steal her morning treat - not that she gives up these treats willingly! It's already become a daily morning ritual that she looks forward to. I'm absolutely buying more of these, particularly since they're so reasonably priced! I purchased some pricier ones at PetSmart that neither cat would even touch (CatMX), so it's nice that I can get good, helpful treats at a reasonable price!

My cats didn't like them but yours might
Before some reason neither one of my cats will touch these. I even tried crumbling them up and mixing them with their wet food and they wouldn't eat the wet food. Other cats may love them but mine did not.
