Q: If the carafe was on it's side and closed, would it drip liquid? basically, is it spill proof when closed?

I read your question, took my carafe, filled it with water and laid it on its side on a dark colored towel for 20 minutes... I even turned it upside down for a bit.... no drips, no water to be seen.

Q: Is inside stainless steel

I am not a metallurgist and I have not had this tested. It appears that the inside is made Thomas the same material as the outside. Hope this helps.

Q: Does the lid twist open easy? Looking to purchase for mom that has hand troubles

I have arthritis in my hands and have no problem unscrewing the lid. It screws on tightl because otherwise it would leak, but opening and closing it is a smooth, easy process.
