Installed this in our BMW i3's trunk, and it has an excellent light output. I feel confident that the housing of the LED strip will protect it from stuff in our trunk that might hit it, since the LED strip is installed under the parcel shelf, and we transport a lot of toddler gear. The adhesive also seems like it'll stay in place for a long time, as the parcel shelf has a lining that the adhesive seems to stick to very well. The cabling was more than long enough, and I didn't need the fuse or connectors, so I cut them off, since I'm tapping into the existing fused trunk lighting.

This is exactly what my truck needed. Install was fast and simple, and the light output is amazing. I'm going to end up ordering one for every vehicle I own that doesn't have a light under the hood!

PROS * inexpensive * easy to install * plenty of bright LED light to work on the engine bay at night * the LED strip seems to be sealed from the elements OBSERVATIONS * the adhesive strip is suspect and may not hold long term, but that is fixable by adding a new 2-sided industrial adhesive strip RECOMMENDATIONS * be sure to thoroughly clean the intended application area and then wipe down with rubbing alcohol to remove any oil or cleaner residue * add some protective electrical wiring housing to the exposed wire , if any, to help protect it from the elements and from being pinched ( see the left side of my installation near the back of the engine and you'll notice the black corrugated plastic housing I used)

Works great, just what i needed to work on my pickup at night. Replaced the old light bulb one that didn't work anymore.

I liked this product soo much that I bought 6 total and I'm gonna buy more for all my cars and my family's cars! This is the best car accessory for nighttime! The convenience!!!!! I really like how the kit has everything you need to hook it up! Easy install and direct connect to the battery! I have one under my hood and I connected 5 together in my trunk because I hate shadows in my trunk because I don't want to lose any small screws etc since I am currently working on my trunk for my project car! I definitely recommend this to all car enthusiasts or even just a normal car owner that does need light in the engine bay.. the convenience of hands free not needing to hold a flash light to check your oil or a quick look at your fluid levels etc.. The light goes on automatically once you open the hood and the button is released from the closed position of the hood.. Extra bright and water resistant.. could be waterproof tho I haven't tried it.. also, if you don't need this under your hood, you could still use this led strip for anything you need light for. comes with wires already connected to the led strip so no soldering is necessary.. also has a 3m sticky tape to stick to surfaces.. make sure you clean with alcohol on the areas of dirt and oil before sticking the led strip to surfaces.

I actually bought 2 of them. Items looked very sturdy. Packaging was good. Mounting was easy. The reason for the 3 stars was because one of the 2 that I bought was used and repaired by possibly the vendor. I opted to keep it because after testing, It worked and looked identical to the new one. Side note, the repair job was done using a wire nut. Is there anything more hideous than using a wire nut?? Anyways... I used it simply because I didn't want to go through the replace/refund process. I am satisfied with my result

It's a very bright light. I had it installed in the trunk of my car and it works very well. I removed the original the light in the trunk, and connected this light directly to the trunk light wiring, this way, I did not have to use the switch that is provided.

So I don't know about the switch, because I didn't use it. I bought a little push in switch, and installed that instead. So that way it doesn't drain my battery during the day. I did, as others mention move the fuse as well. Which did add to the Install time. I also do not have a Liner, so I drilled and Fished the wires through my hood recesses, making it as stealthy as Possible. It could have been much more so, if I didn't install the switch by the hood latch, but alas it seemed the best spot. The LEDs though, are SO Bright. At first when they showed up, and I seen how small the strip was I thought I should of got 2. But they are SO BRIGHT! They truly light up my entire Engine bay. That Engine bay is a Charger, with a Hemi! So it isn't small! The 6500k LEDs make all the colors in my Engine bay look so GOOD! This was less of a work light for me, or more of a Car Shows, Meets, General showing off the Bay at night Light. And I am SUPER happy with how these lights look. The only con is the wires could be a little longer, but likely not a problem for everyone. Big car, awkward way of mounting it.
