I would suggest using Cricut iron on material for fabric

It depends what your use is. Transfer tape is only used for permanent or removable vinyl only to attach your project to a cup of container or shelf. It is not needed for writeable or iron on/invisible products. Then the transfer tape is available in different lengths. If you are only doing iron on or writeable then you don't need transfer tape. You only need it to adhere smart vinyls.

Can this be used with the heat press?

I’ve always used the Cricut heat transfer vinyl with heat press because it has a special transfer tape infused in the vinyl. I have not used the Cricut Joy trasfer tape with heat press so I’m not sure if it will work.

Why can’t I use it for shimmer vinyl? Is their something else I can use for shimmer vinyl to transfer?

You need strong grip for sparkle vinyl
