Smart, nice looking, well-thought out solution to common issue.
The ubiquitous air conditioner accordion-style side panels are terrible. As designed, they fail to keep heat, cold, wind, or bugs out of the living space. One unfortunately needs a third-party solution to fix the problem. The Breeze Stop “Surround Insulation Side Panels” are a well-thought-out solution to this surprisingly common issue. The linked instruction video was straightforward and informative. When assembled in the window, the panels look sharp, clean, and professional. The thick foam panels keep out bugs, wind, and climate. They were a pleasure to install. From opening the package to admiring the installation took 10 minutes.A kit like this should be a standard part of any air conditioner package.Note - I used the offcuts to close the gap between the underside of the air conditioner and the window sill.

This was WELL WORTH the price
So this year I put a new unit in (slightly larger btu 6k-8k) and it has been VERY muggy upstate New York. And the difference from last year to this year inside the house is ASTOUNDING old unit ran full tilt boogie 24/7 to maintain 72-74…. But this year . New unit + the insulation is wild. Machine runs full time but on the lowest setting. Machine is set to 67. And one room over it’s 68. Zero complaints . Probably could have gotten away with keeping the old machine . But the cost of the new machine will be mitigated by the lower cost to run it all summer . Very happy . Also I have replacement windows (not ideal for window units) so it is more flush with the wall so I did tape down the edges with clear insulation tape but I’m still very happy . And not to mention the bugs that the tape just wasn’t able to keep out . (We live in the woods and bugs are normally a huge issue ) WELL WORTH the 40 bucks

AC Insulation
Arrived in good condition. Not quite a easy as it looks but still a DIY product. I suggest getting some wide clear tape as it will help hold things together. Take your time read and go by the instructions.

incredible
my only regret is not doing this many years sooner (i did this for light & temperature purposes, but note that it really does not do anything for sound insulation, as i can very much still hear people outside of my building)

Love it!
My window is a very wide size, so the panels that are attached to it do not extend the whole length. While this product is designed to insulate the panels themselves, I used it to bridge the gap on the window, and it has worked great! I can immediately tell the difference between using this and what I was using in years past, and I will make the purchase again next year when I reinstall my AC.

Fantastic product for sealing window units!
These are fantastic!! It took some configuring/cutting to get the shapes just right, but we put these around two different window units, and they look fantastic, and they definitely minimized any air flow on the sides. Much better than just the accordion flaps and some of the other solutions we've tried.

I won’t buy this again next year
Installing this stuff to exactly fit around my window a.c. was hard work. Measurements must be exact…do not try to eyeball it, as the instructions suggest you might in some spots. It MUST be cut with a utility knife and, ideally, an T-square, and even then, the edges are a bit ragged. Once I had the side panels cut to the correct size, I had trouble getting the outside edges (the edges against the window trim) to stay put. I had to line the trim with double-sided tape and push and poke the panels until the tape found something to grab. I was about 85% satisfied with the appearance of the installation once I was through. Far better than the flimsy accordion panels that came with the air conditioner. The next day, I realized the *back* of the accordion panels are exposed on the outside. I can’t imagine they’ll hold up through a Midwestern winter. I had enough foam panel left from the kit, so once again, I measured and cut and wrestled with the panels to cover the outside of the accordion panels. I cut the pieces a tad wider than necessary and one edge fit into the channel for the screen (which can’t be lowered from the top window pane, obviously), so there’s a good chance everything will stay in place until next spring. Next year, I’ll save myself a lot of hassle and money and buy foam board and more double-sided tape. I do not plan to buy this kit again.

Clean Window Unit Seal
Instructions were pretty clear, panels were thick but easy to cut , and I was able to seal my window unit nicely and keep it clean with this kit. If your looking to do the same then this kit will be perfect for you.
