Koldfront WTC12001WSLV 12,000 BTU 208/230V Through the Wall Heat/Cool Air Conditioner with Sleeve

Love this unit. We have a building in back yard that came with house (was actually an old greenhouse!) and we have been renovating it...turning into like a chill place to hang with friends. We wanted something that would do both heat and cool. The area is maybe 250sqft, maybe a little less. This unit exceeded our expectations. The heat did work but we haven’t had to use it. We just made sure it worked. We have used the AC and it worked like a champ! Cooled off the room very quickly. My fiancé is an electrical contractor, so I can’t comment to the ease of installation....but I didn’t hear him complain much, so it must have went well. 😂😂😂 he has liked it so much he has recommended it to customers of his that were looking for something like that. The room is empty and still a work in progress, so things echo more so now. It does have a sound, but we don’t think it will be a problem. Especially once the area is complete and “decorated”. Can’t speak to its durability since we have just started using it, but we are very excited. So far it has been perfect for our needs!

Arrived on time and in excellent condition. Installation was not to bad but I think a better insulation and weather stripping system could be used. This unit easily cools my 20x20 work shop. Unit is quiet and temperature control works very well.

My overall impression of the product so far is very positive. I replaced an older unit that was installed in a larger sleeve. The new one, although rated for the same BTU's, is smaller than the dinosaur that I had to remove. Everything was pretty simple to install. I thought the directions provided were generally pretty good and reasonably easy to follow.About the only two things that I can think of that I might do differently on the design would not affect the operation of the unit. They would make the install a little easier and the outside appearance would be slightly improved.First of all, the brackets that hold the wall sleeve in place are attached from the outside of the sleeve via four screws that extend into the sleeve when the brackets are in place. The sleeve is a good fit for the unit, but these four screws are just a little too long and can affect the placement of the unit inside the sleeve, especially once the support pads are put in place which are designed to slope the unit for proper drainage. After scratching the top of the unit on my first attempt to slide the it into the sleeve, I wound up cutting off a small portion of the top two screws with a hacksaw. Once this was done, the unit slid easily into place. The only other thing that I would suggest is the addition of two more mounting holes for the louver which mounts to the back of the sleeve outside the wall. The four holes provided are in each corner and slotted so that you have some room for adjustment, but they do not provide a snug enough mount to the sleeve for the middle portion of the louver. The middle portion of the louver bends outward (about an inch) due to the pressure from the air discharge off the unit when operating and it looks like you might think. (Sort of half-assed). I will drill a couple more holes in the top and bottom of the louver and sleeve to snug up this fit and I think all will be fine. Overall, I am happy with the unit and would recommend it to anyone. It is performing well and doing the job that it is supposed to do.Oh, just for sake of a laugh, I almost threw out the remote as it is so skinny and was tucked into a piece of the styrofoam packing in the box that the wall sleeve shipped in. Of course then I would have contacted the seller wondering where my remote was. So look closely, it's there. :)UPDATE: 5 Stars well deserved as 6 years later the unit is still going strong. Just posting this quick update as I think it is worth noting for folks considering this unit.

Great air conditioner for our bedroom. The built in heat is wonderful for our cold weather days. Gave combo purchase only 3 star b/c customer service was horrible. Learned that the sleeve was not needed. Company would not take return on the sleeve. We have $100 metal sleeve stored in our garage.

Purchased this unit in preparation for install. After 3 weeks finally installed the unit and the condenser never came on, so no air con or heating. I had to purchase another unit so that there wasn’t a gaping hole in the side of my house and by the time I received that new unit and tried to return this on I was past the 30 day return policy, so I’m out of $800 with a unit that I can’t sell because it doesn’t work. I’ll only buy from a big box store or the manufacturer going forward.

This unit is better than I anticipated. It is fully functional and can be adjusted to fit most anyone’s needs quiet cool it’s got it all great price easy to install thank you

Its a lot quieter than the units I replaced (I bought 2). and unless the fan is blowing very hard, they are relatively silent (about the same or less as my ceiling fan on high). It says each will cool ~600sqft, roughly, but the two can struggle to cool 800sqft on very sunny 95 degree days here in DC. It is keeping the humidity between 40 and 55% even though my bathroom does not have an exhaust vent to remove moisture from long showers. I'm in an old masonry building and so far I think these are doing well.

Took 4 days to ship from the time I ordered the unit. FedEx did a great job all was received in great shape. The unit cools well in my 240 Sq. Ft. room Not as quiet as the so-call major brand that I had that did last 13 years. I would say this unit is quiet compared to some that I heard. It is not to loud at all. The sleeve took some time to put together, and my carpenter had to enlarge the opening for this unit to fit which I knew that it would have to be done before I purchased. Was not a big problem. This unit is in an enclosed patio area, so the celling is not well insulated that is why I went with a bigger unit before and now but works well. There is one problem the remote control stopped working after one day. Looking for a replacement at this time. Any ideas as to where I can get one that information would help a lot .. Thanks.
