Godzilla

Great classic movie! Well remastered and always great to watch.

Has both movies- the original Japanese movie w/English subtitles and the Americanized version of the same movie in English but does not compare to the Japanese version- the story line was changed slightly and was hard to follow at times but was nice to watch both! Was great to finally see the FIRST and original Godzilla-- there's only ONE Godzilla and the Japanese (Toho studio) do it as only they can. Nobody else has their touch and creativity and humor that really make the Godzilla movies great and unique. Well worth the money and a must for almost any and all collections. This is where it all started and I hear that TOHO was not really planning on making more Godzilla movies after this one because it was just too outrageous!!

Awesome movie, loved it and you can't beat the price both dvds where perfect like new. Will order from again. Only one small issue one of the tines holding the dvds in was broken and they where bouncing around inside the case. There was NO damage to movies, still perfect. Thanks for the great classics at a awesome price.

I love Godzilla movies, but not the new one's. They changed how Godzilla looks. This movie "Great"

I saw this movie a LONG TIME ago. I got it when it came out on VHS. Don't have a VHS player anymore so I got the DVD. The reason I consider this the BET of the Godzilla movies is that it was BEFORE they got silly. This was played in a serious fashion. A DEFINITE KEEPER for any Godzilla collection.

I went to see the latest concoction of Godzilla at the movie theater and I enjoyed it. However, immediately upon arriving at home, I got on Amazon and purchased the original with Raymond Burr. There are just some movies that shouldn't be remade, and this is one of them. The story, the acting, Japanese and American are just superlative to any other version (especially, the horrendous Matthew Brodderick version - whoever thought Godzilla was an iguana is an idiot!). But, it's the monster that makes the movie. I must have watched this film at least 150 times since I was a kid, and, this rubber suited monster is just believable and especially believable to me. The roar of this Godzilla still generates monster thrills and chills. Leave my Godzilla alone, and never, never make another version. By the way: Long Live Rodan!

This movie is a classic and most people already know that it is a good movie. So I won't even get into that. This is a quality movie and came in a quality case. The shipping was fast and the price was good too! It made a great present for my husband.

It's the original movie I've been searching for, where Godzilla is the bad guy but to hear that familiar call from him that has always been his trademark sound, took me back to when I used to watch it as a child. Finding it after all these years ( & I'm up there ) is awesome. It's almost funny but I enjoyed as a kid & now again, as an oldie: life is crazy good !!

Repackaged, but like new. This old show is still pretty cool.

Über den Film braucht man nicht viel zu sagen, er ist ein Klassiker der Filmgeschichte. Die deutsche Version habe ich auch auf VHS, sie kommt aber an die DVD Bild und Tonqualität nicht heran. Interessanter ist für mich die US-Version gewesen, die ich noch nie vorher gesehen hatte. Oftmals wirkt sich das "amerikanisieren" japanischer Monsterfilme negativ aus. Hier ist es eigentlich ziemlich gut gelungen, zumal auch noch Filmszenen enthalten sind, die in der deutschen Version nicht vorhanden sind. Schade, daß die japanische "Urversion" in restaurierter Fassung mit Untertiteln nicht vorhanden ist. Darum auch nur 4 Sterne.

Ach ja, Godzilla ist wirklich ein Klassiker. Aber hier wird er nicht gerade besonders gewürdigt. Zum Inhalt des Film muss ja nun wirklich nichts mehr gesagt werden. Also gleich zur DVD: Es befinden sich in dieser Edition 2 DVD`s. auf der Ersten ist etwas Werbung und der Godzilla Film, wie er in Deutschland im Kino zu sehen war. Das war es dann auch. Keine Untertitel, keine anderen Tonspuren, keine Doku, kein Garnix. Auf der zweiten DVD ist die Version, welche im US-Kino zu sehen war. Es wurden damals neue Einstellungen mit Raymond Burr (Perry Mason) in den Film geschnitten, damit ein Amerikaner mitspielt. Das wars. Diese US Version gibt es auch in deutsch. Aber nicht in dieser Edition. Nein nichts weiter. Also noch einmal 2 DVD`s auf jeder ein Film in einer Sprache, und einige Trailer Werbung. Na da hat sich ja jemand richtig Mühe gegeben. Empfehlung: Wer Godzilla noch nicht besitzt, sollte den Film kaufen (weil Er gut ist) und sich über die Special Edition ärgern. Wer Godzilla schon hat braucht sich nur zu ärgern, das hier (mal wieder) ein Klassiker nicht ausreichend gut behandelt wird. Die 3 Sterne gibt es nur aus zwei Gründen. Erstens ist die Bildqualität ganz gut, und zweitens dafür das der Film überhaupt veröffentlicht wurde. Wenn der Verleger auf den lächerlichen Vermerk "Special Edition" verzichtet hätte, und der Film so 7,99 € kosten würde, hätte Er auch eine bessere Bewertung verdient. So aber wirklich nicht.

Entgegen den Angaben liegt leider nur die deutsch synchronisierte Fassung der japanischen Original-Fassung vor. Auch wenn ich kein japanisch spreche, ziehe ich dennoch den Original-Ton mit abschaltbaren Untertiteln vor.
