Highly effective
Due to last summer's drought, we had deer decimate first our vegetable garden and then our ornamentals. Although there is likely lots of food in the woods this year, they remembered where they ate last year, consuming my hostas and lilies as soon as they popped their heads above the ground and wiping out my Solomon's seal. My online research directed me to Bobbex. The odor is so foul, I gagged. I intended to use a mask to apply but my husband, who was not so repulsed by it, took over spraying. It is sooooooo effective, we have had no deer activity since!!! This is epic!!! We have reapplied after heavy rain but do not need to do so after light showers. My hostas and lilies have recovered and the newest plants to emerge have had no damage. We started with a small container and are now using a pump hand sprayer using a mixture from the larger refill size. This really saved my garden. Hopefully my husband will continue to spray (close any windows!!!!) but if not, I will do so with a mask.

This stuff works!
I put this stuff on in the beginning of the summer and waited the entire summer to do my review. Here's how it went. I sprayed this on my hostas, which last year the deer made their personal salad bar. Okay I got to be up front here and tell you this stuff stinks to high heaven. It smells like some sort of urine. Really strong. I told my husband to be careful not to get it on his clothes because he kept walking past the hostas and I said if you get this on your clothes, I'm throwing them away. They will not be brought into the house. But I had high hopes. Day two I go out to check the hostas and there are so many flies there I can't believe it. Everywhere. But only on the leaves where I sprayed - they didn't bother me at all. I thought uh-oh. This might not be what I want. Day three still flies. Maybe a little bit less. Day four flies but less. Day five until the end of the summer, no smell and my hostas made it all the way through the season unscathed . I never had to spray them again and all the leaves are still there! I didn't believe that I wouldn't have to spray them again after rain, but you don't! And we got a lot of rain in Michigan this year. So I would say five stars and I would definitely purchase this again. Thank you for saving my hostas. Next year. I'm putting it on more of my plants because obviously the deer moved on to the other plants in my yard.

Worked for a while
Worked great to start with but the deer got used to it after a while. Then I tried cayenne pepper that worked for a while but the got use to it.

smells like it's working
this stuff smells horrible until it drys. the deer can still smell it but i can't. you must reapply every month or so to treat the new growth on your plants. the deer will take a sample of your plant a spit it out. i bet it tastes as bad as it smelled. after a while they learn to steer clear of your yard.

You will NEVER need another deer repellant!
This has kept deer from eating my hostas and just generally walking through our flower beds during this past spring and summer. Our small "urban" area of a bigger town has a fair population of extremely domesticated deer who will walk right up to a construction site (with newly born twin fawns) and sniff around flower beds under ladders. They walk across our streets with a regal air and take their sweet time, not caring if there are cars waiting for them. The only time I kept a doe and her twins from munching my neighbor's front door rose bush (prior to Bobbex) was using my water hose to blast the face of the doe, who didn't care for it and left with fawns following. For those reviewers who describe the smell as "death"... I don't get it. How do you describe the smell of death unless you're around decaying bodies of animals or humans? I grew up in a rural area and my grandfather was a cattleman and owned a butcher shop. Trips to the rendering plant were sometimes required where I was left in the truck but the smell is truly unpleasant. I'm careful not to spray Bobbex when the wind is blowing and wear gloves, but other than that, I don't need to wear anything special or live in fear that I'm going to smell like the stuff. I've also lightly sprayed other plants and trees with leaf laden limbs AND the ground so they have absolutely no desire to walk where I don't want them nor find a nice place to plop down and spend the night. It's wonderful and the smell doesn't permeate our yard either.

They need to put plastic around the bottle nozzle before it ships.
The product is probably fine, it does stink, which is what keeps deer away. However, when it's shipped in the *same box* with other items, and it's not put into a plastic bag to isolate it, it bangs around during shipping and the nozzle leaks a bit of the liquid stink onto other items in the box! What a mess. I should have sent them the whole box and contents back, but instead, I used my time cleaning things off (which still have some stink).

Recommended for Roses -- Best Deer Repellent
I'm a Rosarian and a Chemist, but anyone with common sense, who reads directions, can apply it successfully. If the spray is used properly every week to 10 days, it is reliably effective. I've used it for the past 14 years for a garden of 38 beautiful roses, and we live in a Deer paradise! Wear plastic gloves and handle this with care. Shake the bottle, then adjust the nozzle for a spray or stream setting. Apply a fine spray or stream from an extended arm's length, from an UP-wind stance. Set the sprayer using the tip of the Nozzle is adjusted by 1/4th turn: OFF --> Fine Spray ON ---> OFF --> Stream ON ---> OFF. If you have an outside water spigot, wash off the bottle and spray tip, then wipe it dry with a paper towel. Store it in an airtight plastic bag, and tie the top. For Roses spray the whole plant the first time. Afterwards, every week, all you need to do is spray the buds, any new shoots, and the tender top new growth of the rose bush. Apply in the late evening. Spray all surfaces of the Hosta Plants. For newly planted bulbs, spray the top soil after the hole is covered.

Keeps the deer away
This does keep the deer away. You do have to reapply if it rains. It does smell bad. I suggest wearing gloves when applying to flowers or plants.
