Q: Can this be used with the left hand?

Actually, you could use it with your left hand, however you would need to hold it upside down and it would probably not be as comfortable to use; since it would not fit into your hand as well. You would then be moving it from right to left; which probably isn't a problem. Rick Boblenz PENWA LLC

Q: What is the difference between hybrid and original ?

I feel that it's the angle in which the tape dispenses. Can use it at an angle for solid sentences or to correct just a single letter, it's with a different tilt. I love the tape cover, personally. I honestly can't think of another reason but most correction tape offer this feature. The head does pivot and makes the tape glide easier. It doesn't slip off the tip as easily with this feature.

Q: Do these have a shelf life or do they expire?

Don't know about shelf life, but if you are planning on using them for the classroom they are not user friendly and have not had one of the package make it through the semester. Would not recommend to purchase.
