Q: Are the dots in the picture tritium, or do you have to shine a flashlight at it to make them glow?

The dots are not tritium, they must be glowed with light.

Q: Will using your cell phone while wearing this, only alter the functionality for the time that you're close to the compass? Or, will it be destroyed

I have a Samsung A50 in a rubber protective case. In my experience even with the phone a few inches away my compass still pointed north. I didn't surf the web or make any calls at the time though. But in theory, if your phone did have a magnetic field that made the compass malfunction, moving the phone further away should correct the problem. It should not be permanent.

I don’t know what foggy sidewalls would mean, but I use this compass for hiking and it is clear and accurate, and has a very nice wristband.
