After DC arc angel was discontinued, I was devastated. This is NOT a dupe. HOWEVER, the gels from this line are the closest I can find to original DC and the only gel that works with my thick/dense, fine 2 B/C hair. I absolutely must have hold without a ton of weight or my waves lose their shape and my hair it's volume. I end up mixing both the soft and high definition. The amount of each depends on the length of my hair at the time. It starts off jaw length and when I get it cut about 6 months later it's well past my shoulders. The gel is drying, but as long as I put leave-in conditioner in first it helps. When I break the cast I usually use a fine mist spray conditioner. I also use a spray conditioner or water to refresh. If I use too much or get my proportions wrong, my hair is a bit stiffer and duller than I would like, but my waves still look great. It gets better if I spritz some conditioner. Worst case I scrunch in the slightest touch of hair oil and it's back. The gel is water based so it cowashes out nicely and doesn't create much buildup. If you're like me and detergent kills your curl pattern, allowing for longer period between bubble shampoos is huge. Typically, I can use alternative CGM cleansing methods and only need to use a detergent shampoo once every month or two. It's worth having to use a bit more leave-in conditioner (or if your hair is truly curly perhaps a curl cream) to get a true gel cast that can be scrunched after air drying, leaving soft and defined waves

This is especially good for my middy, somewhat curly hairstyle. It holds and molds the curls well and looks natural as you do the styling. My product of choice!

I was looking for a gel to replace my Matrix Vavoom. This exceeded my expectations. It is salon professional gel and a great price for the quantity and quality. Even my stylist was impressed, as I brought it to use when I had my hair done. It's a bit on the thick side, but I put it in my hair when it's still fairly wet. My long curls are healthy and happy with this gel. It contains an anti-frizz component and seems to make my hair soft. No sticky residue. All in all, a fabulous must-have gel for curly hair types.
