Can this be used on stove top?

According to the Staub's specifications, it is NOT for stovetop use. But it can be used in microwave and oven (up to 570°F) and it's also broiler safe. So basically, there is no need to use this baby-cocotte on a stovetop.However, everything depends on the heat. If it's very low (e.g., stovetop on "warm"), then, you can use it on stovetop BUT only IF your dish is NOT right away from the fridge. And a "coffee mug rule" applies here: if you feel safe to place your favorite ceramic coffee mug on the stovetop, then, it will be safe for you cocotte as well. Still, it's better not to experiment with it unless you are really in good terms with ceramics and sure that you (or someone else at home) don't accidentally turn on high heat.In general, ceramics doesn't like abrupt temperature changes. So even when stovetop is permitted, heating should be always gradual. Also, besides from the stovetop issues, I'd recommend to avoid direct transfer of any ceramic dish from fridge/freezer to a hot oven without prior warming it up to a room temp. And the dish needs to be hot before you place it on broil. Otherwise it may result in microcracks: though unnoticeable at first, they may eventually limit life span of a ceramic dish in your kitchen.This problem is rarely mentioned by the manufacturers (Staub including) but shouldn't be ignored nevertheless.Finally, I highly recommend these Staub's cocottes: they always get special attention from all my guests as soon as they notice them in my kitchen. They are excellent for both cooking and serving (salads, berries, salsa, guacomole, - just name it). I'm very much into cooking and have a lot of interesting things in the kitchen but these little tomatoes are by far the winners in stealing everybody's attention.
