Cute toy!! Works well 1 year old loves it. It took 2 AA batteries which were NOT included.

I purchased this for my 4 month old god-daughter. It quickly became her new favorite along with her parents and mine. It plays a few songs and keeps her entertained while she waits for her bottle or during diaper changes. It is light weight and easy for the baby to grab and play with. It opens easily in the back with Velcro to change the languages from English, Spanish, and French along with the volume settings and the off switch to conserve battery life while not in use. The highest volume isn’t very loud and for me that was a benefit because I have encountered some toys that are extremely loud and quickly become obnoxious. We took it with us on a trip to the beach and she was able to enjoy the music and sounds. My only suggestion would be if the bottom of the tentacles were the color of the button in place of the yellow and orange music notes. Although she is not sitting up on her own yet it would be another visual stimulation and help learn the colors. All in all I am very pleased with this toy and would recommend it to families with bilingual or trilingual homes.

I write this review mainly to respond to some people's concern that the French audio doesn't sound like actual French. Well, I am not sure if these reviewers are talking about the same version of the toy, but our octoplush speaks French well enough, especially for a baby. Yes, it is muffled at times, as the English and Spanish audio recordings are, because that's what they are: recordings. But that has nothing to do with the accent! I am sure that the French audio doesn't sound any worse for a French person than the English would sound to an American. Of course, it doesn't sound like a French person, because it is a toy, but IT SOUNDS JUST LIKE A FRENCH TOY WOULD! Take it from a person who was born in France, spend the first 25 years of her life in France, studied and earned a PhD in Paris, and not from people who 'learned a little French back in high school, never went to France but knows for sure the accent is bad'. Actually my family who spent all their lives in France feel the same and love this toy, too. So if what holds you back from getting this toy is the fact that you are not sure if your baby will be able to learn foreign words for colors, don't be afraid and get it! Please note however that I am talking about our unit (which makes our daughter very happy) that we acquired about 6 months ago, which may or may not be different than the first version; I don't know if they improved the toy ever since the first reviews claiming that the French is horrible were written, but the newest version is fine with us!

This has been on my "baby wish list" for awhile now, and it made it's way into my cart the other day. It arrived yesterday afternoon, and the kids (just under 5 months) already LOVE IT! They smile at her (we call her "Olivia") and hug her to activate the sounds. It's soft and lovely and the sounds are very nice. Our colors and sounds are lined up. Some of the other reviewers mentioned that the sound that says "brown" isn't actually on the brown tentacle. This is NOT the case with ours. They are all accurate. I think this will be a favorite of ours for quite some time!

It's a great product, I must start saying. I bought this before my baby was born, now she's almost 2 months and for stimulating her senses (as the pedriatician encouraged us) is awesome! Since she's still too little, and obviously can't hold it for herself, I hold it at around 40 cms from her and push it to play the music : it plays music when you push either the eyes or the mouth. The tentacles are just a voice that says the colors indicated. She would look at it very still and even tried to touch it! :) Now the cons: - Must agree with other customers about the batteries: they last nothing! It came with a pair of 2AA and I barely tried it when I received it, and put it away till my baby was born. I just started using it and it already was failing to play music because of the batteries! So I don't know if they just put whatever brand batteries or it is an original failure or what... so i put on some new sony batteries, let's see if they work better and longer... - Must agree about the head: it is too heavy so the octopus never stands by itself like the picture shows, it actually always falls to a side, but i believe this is not so important since most of time i think this is a toy a kid would be holding , not puting away Other than that I must say the music is great and relaxing and stimulating for babies, (not for sleep though), you can regulate volume on the back and also the thing about the languages is great! I don't agree with some other customer that said it wasn't clear. I'm a native spanish speaker and english is my second language, I also know a little french and I think I have the right to say the words (colors) are very well spelled and they're very clear also in the three languages. It is great for kids, I wanted my baby to learn about other languages very early and I'm totally sure it will work. If you asked me, I would recommend it. It is cheap, good material and with basic stuff little babies will love. :)

My son received this as a gift at 3 months old and was delighted! It’s the first toy he’s really interacted with and it’s obvious he loves it! He’s 5 months old now and still wants to play with it daily. The classical songs are great and it also says colors in 3 languages. My son likes it so much it is my go to gift for others now too.

I bought this sweet little octopus for a colleague's baby (5 months) son. It is so colorful, soft and cuddly, and the educational components are both entertaining and soothing. It's simply adorable, and a great toy for a developing baby.

This toy does not have on/off button and it needs a designated space for the night, otherwise if you are accidentally bump into it the party will start while baby is asleep

My twin boys loved this, its educational with colours in 3 languages and the boys loved the music, its soft and gwntke, not too loud.

Es un juguete muy padre para los bebés, el material es suave y la calidad se la tela es buena, y muy atractivo para los bebés. Al oprimir los tentáculos dice un color (tiene 3 idiomas), y al oprimir la cabeza tiene diferente música. El costo beneficio es bueno, es buen producto.

Molto resistente e ben fatto. Colorato,con tanti suoni e musichette,al bimbo è piaciuto tantissimo! Penso proprio che acquisterò altri giochini della Baby Einstein.
