10Gtek 𝟭𝟬𝗚𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲-𝗧 𝗦𝗙𝗣+ 𝘁𝗼 𝗥𝗝-𝟰𝟱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿, 10Gbe SFP+ Copper Ethernet CAT.6a Module, up to 30-Meter, for Cisco SFP-10G-T-S, Meraki, Fortinet, Pack of 2

When the 10Gtek arrived in the usual new "green" shipping package, I felt the "box" it wasn't the usual and I had to get this thing open and see what it is. The container it comes in is genius. It took the great deal I got and hope that it works to "Holy Crap this is So Cool!" and no doubts about it's operation. Upon opening the little metal box by sliding the top, there was the dongle. I had a bit of a problem taking it out of the plastic holder. But once out if it weren't for the way the device was presented I wouldn't have been as impressed. There's nothing initially special about any of these things, so it's not the only one that's "non-descript". Although it's a great value it doesn't seem cheap. I started to look for any specific instructions that if there were any special directions that needed to be considered. I took out the plastic holder insert the dongle came in and no little folded piece of paper with type so small you need a microscope to read it. But then noticed the instructions were painted on the under side of the lid which are simple, very readable and easy to understand. It fits like a glove when I plugged it in and is completely compatible with my UniFi UDM Pro and works without needing anything special. Pop it in and that's it. The system is showing it as if it were OEM. Make sure you use a minimum of a Cat6a cable, it does matter. The Heat Level, I haven't noticed anything more than warm. But I had the opportunity to add a fan, so I did. Speed wise, right now I only have a 1Gbps connection but I'm getting over the spec'd 940 Download/940 Upload speeds. This coming Saturday I'm having 10Gbps installed and I trust that I'll get darn near their spec'd maximum speeds. Can't wait.

Arrived on time and was basically plug and play. I installed it in a UniFi UDM, and it was recognized immediately with no negotiation issues, no link flapping, and no manual tweaking required. It joined my 10GbE backbone cleanly and has been stable since day one. For a copper SFP+ transceiver, that’s really what matters: clean link establishment, compatibility, and reliable throughput without adding complexity to the network.

I have purchased many of these in the past and they are all still in production. Good value. Using them in EnGenius switching.

I bought 4 of these becasue I had 4 ports I needed to connect via cat6. Two used in a unifi switch, two used in HPE SFP+ nics that are in good working order. Initially, they worked. After two weeks, two of them failed with massive tx/rx errors and overheating. Today, only one of them works (and it runs at 48C when no traffic is even flowing, what the f?!) Much like 10GTek's crappy DACs which I also bought and returned, these things only work long enough to exhaust the return window. I should have known when I saw the childish company description on the product page that these pieces of likely north korean garbage are not worth the money. Spend the extra money on an SFP from a real company like Unifi or F5 if you want your gear to work and not be damaged by cheap crap.

Gets good throughput with no setup

So far, so good working with my 5gig connection, they do get extremely hot to the touch, but I haven’t had any issues in the few months they’ve been in use about 8-10hrs a day.

These work good but do not report temps within the UniFi network reporting. Fyi

I bought this for a Netgear MS510TX multgig switch. It has one SPF+ port (slot 10). I plugged in the module to the switch and then plugged into my Alienware Aurora R13's 2.5Gbps built in motherboard port. I am getting 125Mbps download and 20Mbps up. If I connect to one of the MS510TX's 2.5GBps port I get 1400Mbps download and 44Mbps up. Clearly an issue with this module or its not Netgear compatible as it claims. I tried setting the NIC to 1Gbps Full Duplex, and 2.5Gbps Full duplex instead of Auto and it makes no difference. I have a 10Gbps PCI-e NIC coming in the mail tomorrow. If having the 10GBps Module connected to a 10GBps NIC makes a difference I'll update the review. Using Windows 11 fully patched as of Jun 2022. Same Cat8 Ethernet Cable used for both speed tests. Update to 5 stars from 1 star: I just swapped it so my Netgear RAX120's 5Gig port talks to the 10g SPF+ module and my PC talkes to the MS510TX's built in 10G ethernet port and I now get my normal 1400Mbps down. So apparently the Aurora R13's built in 2.5Gbps NIC had an issue talking to the 10Gbps SPF+ Module.

Works great for my Unifi Setup with my Cloud Gateway Fiber for full 10 gig network connectivity! This made sense and I am not regretting buying two of these Transceivers at all. It's a good price to performance ratio and it does as advertised properly. The only gripe I have with the SFP+ Modules is they get REAL HOT (99 Celsius) Make sure you have decent cooling where you are installing the modules as it'll save them from burning up and frying. I love the speeds and reliability they give and I highly recommend this to anyone who wants 10 gig connectivity over RJ45 Ethernet Cables!

Connects as expected at 10G

This transceiver has helped us out many times to hookup a 10G capable switch to a 10G backbone while the switch has only SPF and SPF+ (the one you need) ports. While you could opt for a Coaxial or Fiber SPF+ to SPF+ direct cable in certain cases, where you need to connect to 10GBase-T ports this thing is great and fits DLink and TP-Link switches just like Cisco's.

Used these SFPs to connect Unifi Dream Machine Pro (UDM Pro) to Bell Gigahub 10Gbe, and also used SFPs to connect Unifi SFP ports over Cat6 as well to carry 10Gbe connection.
