CHEMEX Glass Coffeemaker Cover

This surprisingly keeps a lot of the heat in the Chemex! I thought since the entire chemex is glass, the lid wouldn’t do anything but I was wrong! This lid really can keep your coffee hot/warm for an hour plus. Just have to remember that it is there since it’s clear! I’ve dropped it many times which brings me to my next point; it is pretty drop resistant when dropped on a quartz counter. Very easy to clean.

Most people use the medium or large sizes of Chemex & for those, this works great. I have the smallest sized one & the opening on the top is smaller. This doesn't really fit with any snugness on it & sits pretty loosely, so I would not recommend it for this size. We also have a medium sized Chemex & it fits great on that one, so it is highly recommended if that is what you use at home.

The Chemex coffee even improves the taste of less expensive coffees and for tea. When my former Chemex was accidentally dropped on the floor I tried several types of coffee makers, all were more convenient but even the highest grade product didn’t taste as well. We do own an electric coffee maker which is used for serving large numbers, the Chemex gives exactly what you want: strong or mild. The design is beautiful. It does come in larger sizes than mine. Mine is smaller, serving 2-4 people and takes less time and counter space. If you don’t want to spend ten to 25 minutes between boiling the water and pouring it over the coffee-not too fast, that would be a problem for you. The cone shaped paper filters are sold separately and not expensive.

I had the bamboo cover but found that mold started growing on it after a while. Probably my fault for not ensuring it was dried properly after every use, but the glass cover is a lot more forgiving!

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This heavy glass seems sturdy and it does generally fit the chemex however the part of the chemex where you pour (where the spout is) is still left open with this lid so it does not maintain temperature for long as steam is still escaping. Would be nice if it had a silicone seal around it and a small silicone flap to cover the open area of the spout. Room for improvement.

Purchased a Chemex pour over carafe. The Carafe works great- a bit pricey but, honestly it’s worth the price.Purchased the matching Chemex lid to help keep my coffee warm in the carafe and top closed while I’m drinking my coffee. It does the job very well. Looks good and is also made of glass- which is cool.Problem is, at over $20, the lid is very pricey for what it is. Crazy but the lid is almost half the price of the carafe!I expected something larger to be honest. It’s very small and should have come with the carafe in the first place- especially since the carafe is pretty expensive on its own.Recommend if you don’t mind paying for it but honestly save your money. Buy a yeti coffee cup to keep your coffee warm. More expensive than the lid but not by much and you’ll be able to take your coffee to go!

The Chemex pour over glass container with glass lid to keep coffee warm. Very easy to clean and holds heat in. You do need to hold the lid in place when you pour into cup or the lid will come off.
