USB to RJ9 Cable for Celestron NexStar Telescope Console Upgrade Cable (Length: 6feet/180cm)

Initially I could not get it to work with my old Nexstar handcontroller (with the RJ9 jack), and I was about to buy the (5x more expensive) Celestron wifi dongle instead and send this cable return... But - after carefully reading the instructions from the vendor; turns out you need to download and install the drivers for the FTDI chip (link above). The ftdi website provides a setup file that you can just run and it automatically installs the drivers. After that windows recognizes your mount (you head the bleep when you plug in your usb cable). With that I can now control my mount with the free Celestron software (and later Sharpcap and NINA). Turning my junkyard Nexstar 127 SLT (with a planetary camera) into a great outreach telescope!

Worked perfectly to update my Celestron Evolution mount with a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro using a USB A to C adapter. Just follow Celestron webpage instructions.

It will work with the right drivers I belive, but it is an old software I have Autostar from Meade, so still not have it running can be my telescope dont working.

I had difficulty finding a cable for my Sony Nex-7 camera. This cable was the correct one. I was able to do a much needed firmware update, and I can now upload images without using the memory card. A good value.

Be VERY careful. The cable I received is I'm sure fine, but I can't verify that as it does not work with my telescope mount. I have a Celestron LCM114 with a NexStar+ hand controller. This cable will ONLY work with the hand controller in place on the LCM line. The product description seems to indicate something different. It took me several hours of hunting to discover that the LCM RJ9 port does not work with the USB-RJ9 cable and that I have to go through the hand controller (which in my case is a USB mini port, so I am returning this cable). I'm sure this is a great cable, but it's not the right one for me. My suggestion is that this description get updated to reflect the specific LCM support. Additionally, some of this falls to Celestron to make it very clear that the LCM telescopes require the hand controller to be in line between the PC and the telescope mount (which I know is not directly related to this product). Again, I'm sure these cables are fine, they just don't work with my application.

the cable I purchased from you was bad, and made pretty cheap for the cost. I purchased it to connect my laptop to my Celestron - NexStar 90SLT Computerized Telescope, the about this item in Amazon says it is compatible with this telescope. It most defiantly is not. It was connected to my laptop and scope for maybe 15 minutes doing a download. I felt the cord and it was very hot, in which time I stopped the whole process. As you can see per the pictures it ruined Telescope which makes it unable to anything in that port, which is used to connect the laptop. I just used it to update my CPC 800 GPS Nextstar + serial hand controller using Windows 10. I downloaded the FTDI drivers, followed the update instructions, and it worked. The only note I would say is the build quality is somewhat questionable, as the USB plug is at a slight angle.

It works fine with a CPC1100 with the non-USB hand controller. Just plug it into the HC and into your PC. I didn't need to install any drivers, but this may be because I installed them already for my other hardware. I run Windows 11.

Ordered this USB to RJ9 Cable for Celestron NexStar Telescope Console Upgrade Cable to update the firmwarm of a pre-2016 Celestron Nexstar Evolution 6 telescope which had never been updated. The cable worked flawlessly with a Dell XPS laptop running Windows 11. No issues even when connected to a USB A to C adaptor as the laptop does not have USB type A adaptor ports. I downloaded and installed the FTDI drivers for Windoes 7 from the FTDI website, then plugged the cable into my USB C adaptor and the other end into the Celestron hand controller and ran the Celestron Firmware Manager software I had downloaded from their website. As soon as I opened the firmware update software it began downloading the latest files and found my telescope straighaway. The update took a few minutes with no issues. I would highly recommend the cable.

El cable funciona perfectamente con la montura Celestron Avx , los drivers son muy fáciles de instalar , también funciona para conectar la montura al asiair , muy buena calidad !
