Q: what material is the tube made of? It looks like a plastic

I bought mine 2-3 years ago and the inside tube is metal.. Great product but not sure they are exact same thing now aday

Q: Does the height measurment of 17inches include the pump when up? I need to know the height when the lid is off for brewing, to be sure it fits brewer

It is plastic, but it's a heat tempered grade....but if you couldn't put it into boiling water, you certainly couldn't use it for very hot coffee :) We love ours. Works great. These are professional ,like what's used in restaurants and hotels. It can be used for boiling hot water, hot coffee, or cold beverages. But take caution in switching from very hot to very cold....this internal portion of the carafe is glass, and will crack, if you switch from one extreme to the other, immediately.

Yes the glass has a pink tint The manufacturer would like you to take a picture of the suction pipe? so they can take a look at it
