Is this made in the USA? I'm deciding between the Hot Max and the Red Dragon. The Red Dragon says it's made in the USA but the Hot Max didn't say.

Hot Max is made in China. It is 3 times as heavy (to hold), and mine leaks. I have owned both, and will get the Red Dragon again when my Max wears out.

does this come with the fitting to hook up to a grill propane tank?

Only if you have a 1/4" regulator hose on your propane tank. These people suck! It's REAL FUNNY how they never mention the hose size in their description.

Would it work for melting snow in your driveway?

No. From experience. No. Source: I live in the NorthEast US. In 2015 we had many feet of snow, so I brought this thing out, thinking it'd make quick work of some of the worst of it. To my amazement it was almost useless on the snow. I even tried digging out a little snow cave and roasting the inside (thinking to take advantage of heat's rising), but even this was marginally successful. I melted a little snow, but far far slower than it would have taken to dig it out. With a spoon. Seriously, I tried for 30 minutes before putting it aside and returning to my shovel. Its great on weeds - not much on snow or ice. FYI: this has nothing to do with this specific unit; I can't imagine any of these 500k BTU units being notably different with snow.

Can you get hose extension

You bet! Hot Max Model 24200 is a 10 foot extension hose and Hot Max Model 24201 is the 25 foot extension hose. If you want a straight replacement hose, that is Hot Max Model 24212 which is also 10 feet long.
